Will a steering stabilizer help?
 

Like the title says, will putting a steering stabilizer help to tighten up my steering?
I run wide tires on the front (275/60/15) and even after getting my front end aligned, it wants to wander. (Though not nearly as bad as be pre-alignment)
It's usually from irregularities in the road.
I'm thinking the big tires are just catching everything out there.
I put a stabilizer on my Jeep, when I mounted larger mud tires on it and it helped, so I was wondering if one would do the same on the truck.
Is anyone out there using one?

All I an say is the 1 1/4" sway bar I installed on mine really helped the response and cornering on mine...

I've already got the Stabilizer bar. And I absolutely agree.
I'm thinkin I just have to deal with the tires catching everything, unless I change back to stock width tires and wheels

My truck has the clamp on type installed with otherwise stock front suspension for 1967 with 255 rubber.

The truck tracks pretty straight usually. One negative for me though is that the wheel will not really self center after a turn. My assumption has been that this is the result of the stabilizer.

Even tho this is a chevy site i like my mid size 1990-92 ford rangers.I found out how nice it is to have front and back sway bar's.Put them in be for you put the stabilizer in you will see a big change

The point of the steering stabilizer, or damper, is to limit side to side movement and absorb bump steer. I put a Moog stabilizer on my 2wd 72 with 255's on the front and I honestly haven't noticed a whole lot of a difference....but I need an alignment. Like weq92f, I did notice a diminished return to center of the wheel once installed. It still returns, just not as easily. I don't think it's a bad idea to add one, modern cars still use em. Just don't expect it to be a game changer in your driving feel.

What are your alignment numbers?

These trucks were designed with bias ply tires in mind. Radials really need different alignment specifications. Adding caster should help.
