Head recommendation

Hey guys, I'm currently working on a small journal 327. The build is intended to be a reliable, yet fun little runner. The block has been bored 30 over, and I'm going to run a 268H cam with a th350. I will use an aluminum dual plane intake ( edelbrock non air gap) with guessing a 600-650 cfm carb. Pistons are small dish with valve reliefs.
Question is, I'm looking for an entry level set of aluminum heads. I'm thinking of keeping the little engine in the 180-185 cc runner range. I have looked at both brodix IK 180s and Jegs house brand (profiler/canfiled?) heads as options.
I would greatly appreciate opinions on +/_ $1000 heads. I'm not interested in high dollar heads on a basic street build, but would like a good idea for the older single pattern cam. Thank you guys.

Don't listen to me since I'd say build a larger (stroked) SB. I think Smokey Yunic said in one of his books that there's no sense building an SB under 350. For heads probably the best are a late Vortec style. Same with the cam.
Why use 70s technology when better is available?

Dunno if you can make a stroker for a small journal block? I had a 327, ran good, but the 350 I put in its place ran better. But if ur gonna run it the Vortecs are a good head, same with the cam. I ran that cam in a 355 I built in a 2wd S-10 Blazer, lil I drove it was fun!!

I'd say Vortecs are the biggest bang for the buck. Trick Flow 327 Double humps are the coolest. Entry level aluminum heads don't seem much cheaper than good heads if you have to re-do anything that isn't up to par. I have been saving a small journal 327 for a high winding Camaro application.

If you want the whole vintage appearance thing, I think Trick Flow Specialties has a fun product. They give you the appearance of the old vintage camel-hump, fulie heads, but as a brand new part with modern aluminum. You can get them with or without the end holes for mounting accessories if needed. If they had been available when I was selecting parts, I would have gotten them instead of the rare vintage iron parts that I wound up getting. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/t...0aAv3nEALw_wcB

He said aluminum dudes. Vortecs are the shiz nittle bam snip snap snap no doubt, but they are iron.
$1000 for new heads limits you to trick flow, edelbrock, and off brand chinese junk. I'd look up the flow rates for the eddy's vs edelbrocks and make my choice that way.

AFR is making an aluminum vortec style head now. A little pricey tho. https://www.airflowresearch.com/190c...cylinder-head/

Aren't the GM fast burn heads pretty much the aluminum version of vortecs? I'd look at blueprint heads though. They are on my 427 SBC and we put a set on a 355 we put in a little luv truck, they worked out great especially for the price and usage.

Depending on power levels bowtie 185cc Vortecs are really nice.

If you want aluminum my favorite is AFR

No. They have much larger port volumes and bigger valves.

As for those AFR vortec heads, hell yes finally! AFR is my preferred head manufacturer.
