Body work is almost completed. Fenders and doors have their first coat of primer so now we can block these out and get the jams painted. Looking forward to getting some color happening. On the mechanical side of things we were able to find the original shifter linkage so we could get rid of the ratchet shifter the previous owner had installed on the floor. We also got rid othe electric fan set up and went back to a clutch fan and propped shroud. Lots of little things are really coming together and I think my son really is enjoying the time we spend on his truck.

Outstanding! Old school motor needs an old school fan! :). Mike

I completely agree with that. They did not have the fan thermostatically controlled either and just on a dash switch. That would be a sure fire way to cook a motor in my opinion.

Ha Ha… We don't have a ton invested yet. We have a local wrecking yard that has a couple dozen of those trucks and parts have been pretty cheap so far. Paint has been the most expensive so far. We have spent approx 100 hours so far of our own time.

I did go through your build the other day and you have done some really great work to your truck!

We decided to throw the box on the rotisserie to clean up and paint the underside. Sure makes working on the box easy this way. It was also good to clean up all of the road grime from the past 39 years. sorry for the sideways pics I tried everything to rotate them

That's kind of funny. The bed is in the proper orientation... You just rotated your shop. :)

A little progress on the weekend. We were able to get all of the jams painted. It’s such a tedious task to paint interiors and glad that is done now. Today we will hang the fenders and doors back on so we can give the outside a final block and make sure everything is lined up. Also added some sound deadener to the back of the cab.

We were able to get the fenders and doors hung on last night and now we are working on drilling the holes for the trim.

Yeah I think the trim makes these trucks so nice.

Not whole bunch to report but the cab is blocked and prepped. Just need to mask it now and start spraying some paint.
