Oil cooler lines/hoses 1983 454
Looking to replace my seeping oil cooler lines...here is what my online research came up with...but I am looking for actual experience before I order.
Lower inlet: 34 inch. GM ac delco 12472195 or Dorman 625–131 Upper outlet: 28 inch. Gm ACDelco 12472194 or Dorman 625-617 OR Other upper hose: 47 inch. GM ACDELCO 12472196 or Dorman 625-132 By looking under the 1983 C20 Suburban 454 in question...the hoses basically look the exact same...so I am tempted to order 625-131 and see if it will fit both positions...because it is cheaper than the others. I can not find thread sizes on any of these hoses, but they all “look” about right in their pictures, and the shapes look right. Any experiences from the greater good? Thanks in advance. |

If the steel portion of the lines is in good shape you can cut the crimped clamping ring and peel it off.
Then replace the rubber hose with SAE J1019 oil cooler hose. Use Oetiker ear clamps or German Fuel Injection clamps. |

Yes...the metal portion looks good still.
I can see where to get 1/2 inch oil hose online. Do you have a favorite online source for those German clamps? Hard to find them and their various sizes. |

New info parts numbers to add:
If you buy Hayden 112 it is Gates brand hose. It is best to use a 18-20 mm sized fuel injection clamp...my 16-18 mm just barely fit. The two hoses on my 83 are almost completely identical except for a tiny bend in the long metal tube near the oil filter adaptor. The oil filter adaptor housing uses a gasket and an o-ring between it and the engine block. Some auto parts list a Dorman kit for this but it’s wrong. The proper gm part for the gasket and o ring is 88893990. |
