Looks damn good if you ask me. I run a 305 in my truck and it's been a good motor that hasn't given me any problems. Some people swear by them and others just swear at them. Also, I have my serpentine belt routed the same way as yours and it works great. Keep us updated on the install of your motor.

305 aren't bad motors, they're just gutless hunks of junk...

For what it is worth….that is not a serpentine belt. That is a multi-groove belt. Serpentine belts wind around accessories not just a spin a water pump and alternator from the crank.

This is a serpentine belt equipped engine….

for what its worth, i never said it was a serpentine belt...i said it was a serpentine conversion...

A serpentine belt is a single, continuous belt used to drive multiple peripheral devices in an automotive engine, such as an alternator, power steering pump, water pump, A/C compressor, air pump, etc.

i do have multiple items being driven...not nearly as many in your picture but still multiple, meaning more than one...the belt in your picture is also a multi groove belt...what makes it a serpentine belt is the fact that it drives multiple items too...

next time a "that looks good man" or "good job on your first build" will be suffice...
thanks

Wholly smokes Wes…. Sorry to come across sounding like a jerk. That certainly was not the intent. I see you are on your 26th post and somewhat of a newbie around here. I am glad you are here sharing your truck stuff with all of us and my first reply to you didn’t exactly come across as welcoming. I apologize for that. We all look forward to talking trucks with you in the future.

And yes, that is a good looking engine. You have good taste in your components!

My point was your belt routing is not a true serpentine belt set up as the thread title reads regardless of the “serpentine belt...or serpentine conversion” arguement.

If you do some searching on this board there is a ton of discussions about serpentine belt conversions and I felt your thread only contributed to the confusion most people have on what a serpentine system actually is. You have a multi-groove system and yes, you are correct….a true serpentine system runs a multi-groove belt as well. The description you surfed up on the internet of what a serpentine belt is entirely accurate but that is not what you have in the picture.

I sure am glad I didn’t crawl on my “motor” pet peeve with you. Motors are electric and ENGINES run on fossil fuel! (that was a joke, but it is true….relax)

Maybe because I am employed by a truck manufacturer and deal with anal automotive manufacturing terminology on a daily basis causes me to be somewhat fussy with those that are not up to speed with the correct terminology. Sorry.

We are glad you are here.

And…..that is a great looking engine by the way.

Very true. My instructor in votech, (years ago), made a point of telling the class this. When we walked into the engine room the first time he asked the entire class how many motors were in the room. Every one of us started counting! Then he informs us there were no motors in the room, only engines....:lol::lol:
Then he explained the difference..;)

I thought about it but I like the big old school steering wheel and the truck was suprisingly eas˙ enough to steer....plus I like things clean and simple under the hood...

I said motor once when referring to an engine to the old school guy that does all my machine work. I never made that mistake again.
