2 different sized lugs--frt and back
 

I just received some rims from VTBLAZER and as I went to take of the stock rims I realized the front lugs are 9/16" and the rears are 1/2". It's a 1970 K20 LB with factory disc up front. (disc option is listed on the glove box options list) Has anyone ever heard of this or has there been some kind of conversion done. It all appears to be stock. Thanks Matt

THESE TRUCKS DIDN'T HAVE DISC.S UNTIL 1971. SOMEONE PROBABLY CHANGED IT TO A 73 ON UP FRONT CROSSMEMBER. I THINK ALL OF THE 3/4 & 1 TONS HAD 9/16 DIA STUDS. THEY PROBALY ADDED THIS OPTION TO THE GLOVEBOX OPTION STICKER. YOU CAN BUY BLANK ONES ON EBAY FOR $5.00 & TYPE IN ANY OPTION YOU WANT. :) :hm: JOHN

Thanks JUNKYARD---your right--I thought they were factory, but looking at the glove box option sticker again it does not say disc--just power booster option. Anyway--that's just one conversion less that I have to do. Thanks again everyone.--Matt

starting in 71, they added disk (as stated above) but that is also when they went to the 9/16 studs. You coupl probably get the rear hubs and drums off a 71 - 72 rear and put them on your truck if it really bothers you.
Just getting studs won't help. you'll need to redrill and spline the hubs, and then redrill the drums too.

Iirc, your lugs should be 9/16 all around. You can replace the rear studs, bit you need a hydraulic press and a drill. For most guys, it's easiest to take the hubs to a machine shop.

An easy fix is to buy some adapter lug nuts. I ran into the same situation when I went to put newer wheels on my 52. My tire shop had some nuts that worked.

swapping over to later wheels on older hubs isn't an issue. The wheel is uhub excentric, so you don't need to worry about centering it, or supporting the weight, and the taper in the lug nut and on the holes on the wheel are the same angle.
