Do I have the right part?

Hey folks, this message is related to the post I made earlier about my center support bearing.

I am wondering if this is the right part, as the one on my truck is completely destroyed!

This one cost me $27.95Cdn

Oh, and it says SKF part# HB206-FF

Fast68Chevy 08-26-2002 03:34 PM

well, it depends...
there are two different styles, the one you show is the light duty 3 speed and th350 one,

there is a heavy duty one thats bigger and bolts across the crossmember instead of inline with it and i ave a pic, but its on my hard drive so id have to mail it to you, was mainly used on the big 4 speed models and on 73-up 3/4 and 1 ton trucks

you wil have to get under your truck and see which yours has

good luck

Yeah, that's the one you need.

JoetheMobster 08-26-2002 03:42 PM

I took a second look, not relying on my memory....it's correct! Sometimes I wonder about myself!! hahahaha :)

JoetheMobster 08-26-2002 03:43 PM

thanks again, new69owner, I didn't see your post when I posted the second time.

COBALT 08-26-2002 03:51 PM

Again, no prob.

I mentioned in the other thread about you taking a picture of the ruined one on your truck. Can you do that? I'm curious after you said the bearing looked like it "dissapeared". That's got me wondering...

Fast, you can attach pics from your harddrive. Just go to the bottom of the screen where it says attach and then use browse to find your file. Voila!

RipMeyer 08-26-2002 11:59 PM

Doh, that looks like the cheapo from india! where is it made?

O'l Buck 08-27-2002 01:15 AM

I'm not sure where SKF bearings are made, but we use alot of them at work and they don't usually skimp on the quality of the parts they order since they are going on $500,000+ machines.

There is a poly one available, I think energy suspention makes is:bowtie:

JoetheMobster 08-31-2002 08:06 PM

RipMeyer:

The part is made here in good 'ol Canada.

If I'm not mistaken, SKF bearings are made in Canada as well.

BTW, as mentioned in my other post, the old bearing seized completely solid with rust!! Wouldn't budge an inch! Naturally it ripped the rubber all to hell, and broke the outer metal support.

Joethemobster,

Just curious. Does your pickup have coil or leaf rear spring suspension?

JoetheMobster 08-31-2002 10:54 PM

It has coils all the way around.

bigjimzlll 08-31-2002 11:14 PM

that looks nuttin like mine..i must have that heavy duty one amd its a pain ti the arse to get in and out

Yellow Cheyenne 09-01-2002 03:48 PM

That's what I would have guessed. The bearing in the photo that you posted should be correct for yours. Seems most GMC's have leaf rear suspension and if it did, probably would have had a different bearing.

Good luck with the replacement.
