Need help completely rebuilding 71 C10 A/C system

So, this is going to take a while. I have a 71 c10 that has 4 season AC, and the Texas heat had become too unbearable to let it sit in pieces anymore. I have a new compressor, reliever dryer, condenser, oil, and flush. I also have some new fittings. Mind you my father's friend bought all this for me on summit racing, so I am not sure about every little detail of the new parts, but I know this will upgrade the system to R134a. I am getting new hoses tomorrow. I am just asking for a general walk through of the process, something to base my work on, and I will ask specific questions if I run into any problems. Also, I redid the heating system last winter and at the moment it seems that the controls for heat vs cold are messed up. My truck only blows hot, and the only fan setting that works is max. Where along the line should I look for broken flaps and or should I look at the control panel to see if some cables are tied up or missing?
Thank you guys!

Ps this is my first post so I hope my time here goes well!

I like your thread, but it's a little hard to follow for me, but I judt work up so I'm not fully functioning. Anyways I see a lot of emphasis on the POA valve or something like that, what does that have to do with the system?
