help with wiring door speakers

I am putting 2 speakers in each door of my '72 Stepper. 6X9'S in the lower front corner. (holes already cut by PO) then I am thinking of putting small speakers just beneath the armrests. I saw a pic somewhere. My question is this. What is the best way to run the wires so they are not seen and also so they don't get broken opening and closing the door. I am a visual learner so pics would be a big help. Thanks guys!:chevy:

at the very bottom of this picture you can see the wire going through a small hole in the kick panel and into the door.

Thanks DSY1. I think I may try to drill the hole higher to hide it under the dash.

I bought mine drilled this way by the prior owner, a little higher might be nice. It can be hard to thread the wire back out unless you have a fender off or the door off so you have better access through the hinge holes.

Re: help with wiring door speakers

Kinda hard to see but my wires are going about middle of the door spaced about three inches offset higher on the cab. I have the rubberized corrugated rubber wiring sheath covering my wires. Not the plastic for under hood. I also used the clips from the speakers that are supposed to go on the door and put them on the speakers so I could screw them to the door so they would be flush. The carpet door mat has a card board backing that muffles the speakers so I drilled holes 1/4" apart over the whole surface of the cardboard. Not all the way through but just until it hit the carpet. The carpet is glued to it so you don't want to get carried away

The othe option would be to do something like this

Or this

The SS options are about $70 but they look really nice. If you decide to run them through the metal, use rubber grommets on the metal. If you dont, over time the metal will cut through the wire insulation and cause all kinds of issues.

Really? That's awesome, I'll have to look into that when it comes that time. I would love to have a set.

Thanks for the heads up!

The information here got me looking in the right direction. I found some door wiring conduit at Classic Parts. www.ClassicParts.com for about $20 per pair.

Should work great for you! Make sure you document the process and upload it here!

I am just getting started. My system will be very basic. I mounted 4" speakers in the door panels today and will mount 6x9's in the front corner of the doors as soon as I get the truck out of paint. I am using a USA-230 radio from Classic Cars. It has the original look (and no cutting) and it has inputs for Ipod, MP3 etc. I will be able to hook my phone to it and use Pandora. Very basic set up but the truck will be a daily driver.

Go to "pick and pull" junk yard and get some out of a 1980's truck ...they are factory and look different.... and mount with 2 screws per side ...
