turn signal socket replacement
How do you replace the socket on a 68 chevy c10 turn signal? I bought a new socket because the old one would not hold a new bulb. It looks like it will slip right in the fixture, but I cant see how to remove the old one.

Re: turn signal socket replacement
There are several different sockets available for that. Usually you have to cut the old one off leaving a hole & put the new one in. I don't know what you have so I can't say for sure.

Re: turn signal socket replacement
New isn't always better. The Asian terminals in the sockets on my 72 were popping out and shorting. I replaced the housing w/ used OEM parts. As I recall the sockets were sort of crimped to the housing anc not easily removable.
Maybe you can use pliers to squeeze the sockets where the pins lock? |
Re: turn signal socket replacement
I think you are right about newer stuff, but dont see other options other OEM. Crimping the ring on the front of the socket may be the only way to get it out. What I cant see is how it was assembled when manufactured. Being able to twist the back of the socket, I thought it must come out the front of the fixture. So far not.
