71-72 cruise control

5 Attachment(s)
Very rare cruise control set up. These don’t come up too often this complete. Includes transducer with bracket, diaphragm with bracket, wiring, vacuum release with bracket, both carb brackets and the correct engage button. This unit came off a non-running truck, but the transducer turns and the diaphragm holds air. $850 shipped to you.

Was cruise a factory option or is this a period correct add on?

Cruise control started as factory option in 1969 (K30 option code) and ran through 1970. From what I've heard, there were some warranty issues with the unit and it was stopped until 1973. Cruise was sold as a dealer installed option in 1971 and 1972 and would not be listed on the SPID.

Cruise was availble from 1967-71. In 1972 it was discontinued and was removed from the GM truck order guide. Do to customer demand it was made available in 1972 from the parts counter. It was the same as 1971 except the button to set the cruise was located below the the dash. By moving it it save the mechanic labor in adding it to the steering column. What you have here is the 1972 version.

From 1973-78 GM made this similar kit available over the counter for truck owners that did not have cruise.
