'60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

3 Attachment(s)
Here is the newest version of the power brake booster adapter bracket that I've been making since 1993. This bracket is fabricated from laser cut 10ga mild steel and fits 1960-62 Chevy and 1960-63GMC Pickups, Suburbans and panels and is 100% bolt on using holes already in your firewall. The booster side of the bracket has a 3 3/8" x 3 1/2" hole pattern. Boosters with this pattern are commonly found on S10's and full size pickups, Suburbans, Blazers and Tahoes from 1988 to at least 1998. You can also find compatable boosters on early to mid 70's Impala's. Of course you will have to join the booster pushrod to your stock MC pushrod that attaches to your brake pedal. This can be done by either threading both ends and using a coupling nut, or by just welding them together once you determine the correct length.

I have had the original version ('63-'66) of this bracket on my '66 Suburban and have driven over 120,00 miles with no issues. I have also installed these on a couple of local pickups with good results as well. If you are wanting to add hydroboost to your pickup, Suburban or Panel I also offer a mounting plate for the hydroboost HERE

The price on the bare steel brackets is $59.50 plus a flat $16.25 shipping in the US. If you are located elsewhere contact me for shipping charges. You can also get this bracket in a satin black powder coat for an additional $9.00. This pricing is always current and up to date. Mounting hardware is included. To place an order, post in this thread, send me a PM or send an email to captainfab454@hotmail.com, and I will give you the ordering and payment instructions and current lead time.

Here are some pics of it bolted up to an extra cab that I have. I am currently working on a version for you guys with manual transmissions that want to keep the hydraulic clutch. I hope to have that done before too long.

Here's a different variation of this bracket. jbgroby asked me for one of these, so while I was at it I made two incase someone else wants one. This is for adapting a manual brake dual reservior master cylinder to your '60-'62 Chevy or '60-'63 GMC while converting to an automatic transmission. This plate is laser cut from .250 steel and has two studs welded into it to mount the master cylinder. This is the same price as the one for the power brake booster which is $55.00 plus a flat $10.00 for shipping.

Currently I have just this one in stock, but If you want one after this one is gone, it will just take a few days to get one ready to ship.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

I have a 63 GMC that came with a manual tranny and the dual reservior (like the 60-62). I am switching to an auto so I ordered a booster assembly for a 60-62 from CPP but the holes in thier booster bracket are .5" wider than the holes in the firewall. Would your bracket work on my truck? I also have a steering column support bracket and it looks like it might be in the way.

Captainfab 04-27-2010 11:11 PM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

The aftermarket boosters and brackets like that are more or less universal units. They are not specific to these trucks, so you will have to drill holes to be able to bolt them up. The booster brackets that I make are specific to the different years of firewalls so that they bolt up using the factory holes. No drilling of the firewall required. If you're referring to the steering column support on the engine side of the firewall, my bracket does not interfere with that. Let me know if you would like one.

It looks like it will interfere with your bracket.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Ahhh OK now I see. The '63 GMC's are a bit of a mixture of both the '60-'62 Chevy's and the '63 Chevy. I haven't seen a '63 GMC in a long time in person. That colomn support is typical to the '63-'66 trucks. What I can do is trim the base plate a little to fit around that column support.

creep 04-29-2010 03:43 PM

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

Something is screwy with my firewall. It looks like it was made for a single reservior master like a normal 63-66 but modified to accept the dual reservior for a hydraulic clutch like a 60-62.

Re: '60-'62 Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket

It looks like GM started with a typical '63 Chevy cab, and then changed it to accomodate the hydro clutch/brake master used on the '60-'62's. From what I have learned in the past several months, the '63 GMC's were like this. They had the hydraulic clutch system as the '60-'62's did. So yours is just typical of a '63 GMC.
