Spark Plug Wires

Anyone have an opinion on the wire sets. Are the MSD, Accel, or Mallory wire sets $50 better than a stock set of wires for a HEI distributor.

All depends on your set up. Stock to mild with out headers and stock sets are fine. If your running headers the stock sets just can't handle the heat for the long haul. I have three vehicles with headers so for me, it's cost effective to buy bulk MSD wire, ends, and boots and then make my own. As a boot burns out I can just replace or make a new wire.

Theres a big difference between auto parts store wires and aftermarket performance wires. The biggest difference is the amount of time performance wires last. They are put together a lot better and last 2 or 3 times longer. I prefer Taylor wires. I would personally overlook the accel wires as most of the ones in parts stores are barely a step above the junk they have behind the counter. Msd and Moroso also make good ignition wires. I like to use cut to fit sets to keep everything neat and tidy under the hood.

If the boots are getting too hot you can get nomax sleeves from Jegs or Summit.
