Removing motor and trans

I am fixing to remove the 250 I6 and 3sp trans out of my truck. I have the front clip off. I don't see any bolts that hold the trans to the crossmember. What do I need to do to pull these out together? I know I have to pull linkages out and speedo cable. Are there hidden bolts somewhere? Thanks for all replies.

Re: Removing motor and trans

There should not be a trans crossmember in your truck. The trans just hangs off of the back of the bellhousing. The bellhousing is bolted to it's crossmember. That with the engine mounted, holds everything secure. Once everything is disconnected and the engine mount bolts removed and the bellhousing bolts removed, the engine, bellhousing and trans will come out.

Re: Removing motor and trans

Thanks Captainfab for replying. I guess I will find the bell housing bolts when I remove the inspection cover? Will need to get a power steering gear adapter and booster bracket since I am putting a 79 crossmember under this truck. Will be putting an auto trans in it also. Thanks again.

The bellhousing to crossmember bolts are up inside the crossmember. They are 1/2" bolts. The two lower trans to bellhousing bolts will need to be accessed from inside the bellhousing once you remove the inspection cover.
