New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?

2 Attachment(s)
I finally received my new wheels and tires. I know the TT II's are a "dime a dozen", but I love the look and couldn't resist. Before and after. I hope you like it too.

BYW, thinking about keeping the body and paint "as is" vs total restoration. I sort a like the rat rod look. What do you think? Does anyone know a company who can match "oxidized blue"... seriously?

I wish the ones I bought were a dime a dozen ;)...be that as it may be...I like them and your new shoes look very good on your truck. :metal: I have a set for my truck that I will be installing when my truck gets out of the shop. BTW...what are the size of your TT II's?

*****in' Truck. Love the rims. I would prime it. I've never really cared for the "patina" look.

there are a set of 17x8 & 17x9 polished torq thrust on Tulsa craigslist but they are listed goofy, he is wanting $ 500 with 3 tires but the tires are car size for a caprice wagon. I would buy them but with the economy the way it is and my company slowing way down, I ain't getting them.

Truck looks great! As for the TT's, I don't think they're overused, they're popular for the same reason people like rally's, they look good.

BTW, drive it as-is, they're only original once, so enjoy it.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it! I'm trying my best to "represent" how cool our trucks can be!! :metal:

Here are the details:

Wheels: Front = 18x8 , 4.5" BS
Rear = 20x10, 5" BS

Tires: 255/45R18 (Toyo Proxies STII)
295/40R20

Drop: Front = 2.5" dropped spindles (CPP)
2" dropped front coils

Rear = 5" Dropped coils (CPP)
1" lowering block
Also "c" notched (not sure if it was necessary, but I did it anyway).

Looks great. People pay thousands to duplicate that look. Keep it like that IMO.

American Racing. Initally, I was going to go with this set (pic below) but decided to get the polished set. This was the truck that inspired me the most...The guy who owned it was pretty cool as well...

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?

It doesn't look bad. I see what you are saying when you ask for opinions about restoring it. The question, as I see it is "What do YOU want it to look like?" No doubt you can keep it like it is and the wheels really set it off. On the other hand, I'm sure you have found those areas that you want to improve, or prevent from getting any worse, right? The majority may say to leave it alone. Bear in mind, that restoring, restifying, whatever it is that you consider, will take more money and more time than you can initially estimate. My truck is "all over town", so to speak. It's disassembled. Looks like a basketcase. Heck, it IS a basketcase. But, slowly and steadily, it will come together. Yours would, too, if you decided to "fix" it. But, if it ain't broke, think twice about what you would be doing to it.

It looks good. Driving it is where it's at.

I like the Patina. Too nice the way it is, to restore. I'd drive the wheels off of it!

I would repaint the blue using Hot Rod Flatz
