Heres some pics from today at 105 degree weather. I ground out about a half a can of bondo out of the drivers door so now I have some rust and dents to fix but nothing major.

Re: MY build thread...

bondo is a great tool when used right but some peaple think a filler is a dent remover my friends 73 had a inch of bondo on the fender haha we found out when he hit a pole and a chunk fell out haha truck is looking good tho

Re: MY build thread...

I agree WHEN USED RIGHT but some people think it can fix all dents. So as you can see in the last pics the pile of mud I ground out and it only took me about 20 studs to fix the actual problem and one patch panel I will cut out and weld in tomarrow then I'll post pics. I will still have to set the gaps on the fender when I gat one but thats a later story... STAY TUNED and thanks for the views and kind words.. This board rocks and the people are awsome. If you can meet anyone whomever you can its an experience to say the least. Alot of use younger guys can learn alot from meeting some of the guys that have been around these trucks alot longer. PICS tomarrow when I'm done.

sanding SUCKS. Well the first round of blocking is done on the back of the cab and hood, now I need to sharpen up the welded hood seam some and fill some small spots then hopefully I can reprime thursday night.

Re: MY build thread...

Wow when things look straight block again I have a few more spots to fix on the back of the cab and some small spots on the hood but there almost done I will post pics when done. Hoods commin along nicely theres just two small spots I neeed to build up but thats it.

Re: MY build thread...

Nothing new to report just slingin some mud to get my body line crisp on the drivers door and sanding the roof but all the spots on the back of the cab are done just waiting to get the rest done so I can prime the hood back of the cab and roof for the final time I hope. Then seam seal everything and shoot some epoxy on the inside of the cab.

Re: MY build thread...

Could be a LONG time for paint because I still havent decided on a color and my morgage company is screwin with my account and overdrew it twice costing me about 1200 more than I had so what do they do put it on my principal so now I'm trying to catch up on bills so the material I have is all I can get and then I'm done for a while. Working on it just helps me get my mind off BILLS and day to day stuff. Thanks for the words of insperation and I hope things work out and dont kill yourself working I wish I could get more hours...Hows yours comming.

Heres a few pics after first priming, See all the low spots. You can just barley see sanding scratches in the primer so there not that bad but sure looks it. BTW this is my first DIY job without help.

protrash64 08-05-2009 07:30 PM

Re: MY build thread...

Its hard to do it fast without tons of experience. I also keep seeing more stuff that needs attention as I go:lol:....seems like it wont end, but it is good on keeping the mind busy and putting you to sleep really well after a day sanding.

Re: MY build thread...

Looks good so far. Your doing great for not having much experience. I look back to stuff I did 6 months ago and laugh. I hear ya about finding new stuff. I'm trying to get my seam on the front of my hood right. Yours looks great. You just keep getting more critical and picky and wanting to do better. And then you turn into
