My 59 Apache project
5 Attachment(s)
My project, beginning to present... My Wife purchased for Christmas... It is on an 86 Monte Carlo Frame with chrome suspension and rear end, 350 Motor and 700R4 transmission... I took it completely apart, except Cab off the frame... The firewall has been smoothed, frame cleaned sanded and painted, motor and transmission re-installed.

Re: My 59 Apache project
see your other post for my comments on your tilt hood.
i like the look of your truck, something old skool that draws my attention. i've always liked the side mount spare too. i also noticed the gmc fleet option grill since you have it down this far, change out your cab mount rubbers, it will improve the way your fenders fit. might as well shave that cowl seam while you have the front end off :D |
Re: My 59 Apache project
Finally had time to do some work on the truck... Finished smoothing the firewall... Replaced the pasenger side step and cab corner... went junk yarding and got a new steering coulmn and power seats from a 93 S-10 Blazer... Pictures to follow....

Re: My 59 Apache project
s10 column looks a lot like the astro van column i used
weld up a mount for that column, that mount looks a little cheesy it's the only thing to keep you straight and narrow going down the road http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...llowTrk-41.jpg |
Re: My 59 Apache project

Re: My 59 Apache project
Ogre,
Roger that on the mounts. That is just a mock up to get the connections for the linkages lined up, to get the steering box. There will be a solid mount at the dash and a solid flange where the column goes through the floor. I acutually will be removing more floor board to get a better angle on hte column. Thanks for the quick response and for the wiring manual. I will keep the pictures coming as I move along the process. Sincerely, Scott Quote:

Re: My 59 Apache project
you don't want to tilt the column too far back or you will run into header/exhaust interference problems
i went through the top of the existing column cut out and had no problems but you can see how close it is to the block hugger headers it's also a good line up with the mustII rack you can't see it in the picture, but... when i installed the dash cluster bezel i had to grind the lower point of the bezel off to clear the column :D :( i installed my seats high to get a little more leg room for my 6'4'' frame http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...r/IMG_1292.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...K/IMG_0301.jpg |
