1975 Chevy K10 Scottsdale Rebuild.

Last week i picked up the 75 k10. Seen it on Craigslist for $500 and knew i had to have it. So i offered $250, he said ok, and now its mine! At this point its looking like a daily driver kind of restoration. A light resto if you will.

Its a pretty cool truck really. Has aftermarket AC which is surprisingly still intact! Very little rust but a beat body.

The biggie is it needs a trans rebuild. It runs pretty good and goes in reverse fine. But no forward. No big. Its a th350 and they are easy enough to rebuild.

Here is the truck the day i got it.

Not much rust in the Rockers.

He said he used to keep the truck in his barn with the horses and that the horses use to chew on the hood! I dont know why. Maybe it was tasty?

I was thinking it would be cool to get the AC working. Is there any chance of getting this system to work worth a poo?

Looks like a York compressor for the AC which are pretty bullet proof and function well.
Nice score on the truck. It has a lot of character and looks to be very original.

Damn! So bad! You know me and the early square K10s. I'm doing a np205 w/ 700r4 combo now. You should consider for every day stuff. Whats it have in it her for drivetrain? More pics!! Maybe start a build thread in the projects section??

Re: 1975 Chevy K10 Scottsdale Rebuild.

Thanks! Isn't this the project section? As far as drive train it's a 350/th350/203/d44/12bolt. This will act as my build thread.

Good score! She's a time capsule. Don't you ha e a crew cab to turn 4x4?!? Glad I'm not the only one with the truck following me home problem...

Re: 1975 Chevy K10 Scottsdale Rebuild.

Lol yep I do. If I wouldn't have been able to get it for $250 bucks I would have kept focusing on the crew cab. Interestingly, I'm kinda thinking about finishing both builds, and then selling them off to do one "Ultimate build" on my suburban. Time will tell. If I do tho, you can rest assured the burb will be a insanely sweet. We're talking one ton axles, hydra boost, a late model direct injection 6.0 and 6 speed, full intetior/exterior resto, etc. Would be insane! I figure by the time the crew cab is done It will likely be able to sell for around $6500-$7500 or so and the k10 probably around $4500-$5500 or so so I would have somewhere around abouts of $10k plus as a starting point. These rest I can fund with extra money here and there. Just a thought for now.

I'm sure you could get good coin for both when you are done freshening up. Man I would have a hard time parting with that crew after all that sanding!!!

Re: 1975 Chevy K10 Scottsdale Rebuild.

Nice score! Going back to the post about the horse and the hood, I had the same thing happen to me after I painted my '88. I thought the horse was just licking the paint but closer inspection revealed the damn thing had tried eating it and had removed paint from the hood and the fender. The owner asked why I didn't shoot the horse and I told him that it would have been his prize horse all of a sudden.:lol::lol:

Re: 1975 Chevy K10 Scottsdale Rebuild.

I picked up a set of original gm white spoke wheels or "styled wheels" as gm calls them. Going to drop them off at the powder coater next week and order tires next week also. I'm still just gathering stuff for it since I'm still finishing up my house renovations before I'm allowed to get back to the truck but as soon as house stuff is done it will be full steam ahead on this thing!

Oh Yea, as far as tires, I'm going to run 32x11.50s. Should look pretty sweet! I really like the look of these cheap Chinese tires. All the reviews on them seem pretty positive so I'm going to give them a shot.

That'll look awesome. I really like those wheels and didn't realize they were a factory option.
