Mike, unless the harness packaging and / or part number references being for "GMC only" it is for a Chevrolet and the two are not alike - not even close. Also, you asked the seller about a fuse box - there isn't one on 55-59 GMC's nor Chevrolets although both offered an add-on fuse panel just to address the need for additional power for a spot light, etc. on a 55-59 truck, the headlight switch and ingition switch is where all your power comes from - not a fuse box. The add-on accessory fuse boxes are still connected to the headlight switch for power so you do not need one of these unless you are modifying your truck to need more accessory power. Hope this helps

Hey Tom - so seeing you are an American Autowire dealer, can you tell us who made these harnesses? American Autowire is well known for its quality, so wondering if these are from them or another manufacturer?

Will send a PM for what I need for my 1955 2nd series 6 cyl Hydramatic truck project and see what all you have

These harnesses were made by golden state ( A quality restoration company from many years ago) & M&H a quality usa made wiring company.

Any current harnesses available from american autowire I can get for you at a good price.

This week I'll try to get them all laid out so we can decide if any of this will work for your applications.

Thanks,
Tom

So, I have not had to tackle having to acquire a new harness for any of my GMC trucks yet, but seems like I remember seeing where a company was making them from scratch as exact replicas of the 55-59 GMC harnesses....do some googling and see what you come up with. Tom may can check and see if American Autowire is doing any GMC specific harnesses, but I doubt it - demand is low for GMC harnesses and that is usually what makes finding GMC stuff so hard - never were enough of them made in the first place compared to Chevy trucks so not enough restorers creating the demand for the parts

So back to the fuse box - on a 58-59 GMC, the fuse panel is a simple rectangular circuit board w/ cardboard backing - it is Black in color vs the Chevrolet ones being a reddish brown circuit board, and them also being more square. Do you have a picture of the one from your truck? I can dig out my NOS one to show you if I can find it

Wahl, here's what the 58-59 accessory fuse panel looks like - as you see its marked for certain accessories - so if your truck had a deluxe heater or spotlight, etc it may have come equipped with one of these

Thanks Tom - I remember Golden State and they always had good parts so some of these harnesses are likely some that are not even made today at all - not sure anyone still makes the overdrive harnesses for example. sent a PM detailing what I needed for the 55 Chevy 6 cyl Hydramatic truck and sounds like another guy above needs some for a 59 so hopefully you will have some good stuff we can all use there.

Re: wiring harness's

The T17-3 , 55-56 complete 6 cyl wiring harness for generator. May be stupid question but is it all the wiring to wire front to back, interior under dash and under hood. Fuse box or no fuse box? Looking to wire a 55.2 3100 and have just a bare cab and chassis as it goes for wiring. Thanks

Re: wiring harness's

Here's a few more pics of the complete harness, it doesn't have a fuse box & appears to be a complete front to back harness, including under dash , gauge cluster engine harness, headlight harness.
There are no tail light plugs, but there is the wiring that runs back to them.

The price on that harness is $160 shipped, classic industries sells it for $225 + shipping

Thanks,
Tom
