Project Black out
5 Attachment(s)
Ok,
I have been so excited to get to start my 67' C10 build. I picked this truck up a few months ago and now am starting to get to work. This will not be a cab off restore and will be a slow go but it will be fun and I can't wait for progress:) This truck has been neglected for some time and will take lots of little battles to win this war. I am starting with my suspension. I just received my lowering springs and shocks from CPP. I hope to have them installed this week. While I am down there I will be replacing my drum shoes and springs. It has a nasty dive when braking and flat out doesn't want to. I will keep you all posted. These are a few picks of when the day I picked it up. Sorry for the bad pics it was with my phone. |

I had a chance to clean it up a little and get rid of that canopy.

Re: Project Black out
Nice start I saw that truck on craigslist when i was looking for a project. I've got a 68 3/4 ton right now that i'll be selling soon to get funds for the 67 I'm buying from my cousin. justin in Milwaukie

Re: Project Black out
Nice start, nice truck. I like the black trucks. Originally that was my plan but i got talked out of it and went silver. But i love these trucks in black paint. What size is that sixer? 292 or 250? Does it have a 3 speed? What are the plans for the motor? I had to have a loud V8 but my truck had a 292 when i got it back in 2001, and before that i had a camaro with a 250. They were bulletproof. Super reliable.

Re: Project Black out
It has a 250 in it now. I can't decide whether I will keep it or not. I have heard nothing but good things about it.
What is the difference in gas mileage from a 6 to an 8? It has a 3 speed man on the floor. That is something I will need to address fairly soon. |
Re: Project Black out
That's a cool truck! Is it as rust free as it looks?
My vote is to keep the six. :) |
Re: Project Black out
So far it is. There is a few spots with a tiny bit but surprisingly not much. That is why I couldn't walk from this one.
|
Re: Project Black out
And thanks I am leaning towards sticking with the 6.

Re: Project Black out
That straight six looks so small in such a large engine bay. Very cool truck!

Re: Project Black out
looks good..add a drop, leave tha caps & tires alone & bolt in a T-5
|
Re: Project Black out
 It is very small the the engine compartment.

Re: Project Black out
What is a T-5? Is this something I should know about? Tell me more:)

Re: Project Black out
The work began today on the brakes and suspension. I was able to reassemble my new shoes, spring kit and wheel cylinder.
I took my drums in to be turned and found that one had been turned too far and need to be replaced. Gotta love that. I also planned on starting my pulling off of the springs and shocks. After cleaning off what looked like forty years of build up and a couple trips away from the work to the parts store I didn't get the lower ball joints off to release the springs. Tomorrows a new day hopefully full of more work and less trips to the store. |

Re: Project Black out
Some progress was made today:chevy:
The front lowering springs and shocks were installed and ball joints. Very excited! drums and tires should be on tomorrow. I also opened up the back brakes and found one to be cracked. So back to the parts store and now I will have new shoes all around. Tomorrow should see the back springs and shocks installed as well. There will be pictures of all this coming soon. |
