HD Carrier Bearing Mount

3 Attachment(s)
I will be making more of these in the future but as of now I have just this one. If you currently have the light duty driveshaft and carrier bearing that hangs from the top of the trailing arm crossmember and you want to upgrade to the HD driveshaft and carrier bearing, you will need this bracket. This mount bolts to the bottom of the trailing arm crossmember and the carrier bearing bolts to it.

The mount I am selling is shown in the first two pics. The rusty one in the third pic is an original mount. The price on this new mount is $47.50 plus shipping of $9.20.This pricing is always current and up to date. As always, I will combine shipping when you purchase two or more of my products. To make a purchase, post in this thread, send me a PM or send an email to captainfab454@hotmail.com, and I will give you the ordering and payment instructions and current lead time.

Re: HD Carrier Bearing Mount

Will this work for the regular 70 c10 U-shaped carrier bearing?

Re: HD Carrier Bearing Mount

If you are referring to the HD carrier braring, yes it will work, That is what this mount is made for, the '63-'72 HD carrier bearing.

Sorry I'm a noob.

Does it line up for this part? for the hole to hole measurement?

Yes it should. My mount is a duplicate of the original mount.

I do have more of these available. They are $35.00 plus $5.50 for shipping.

Here are a couple pics of the HD driveshaft for those not familar with how it compares to the light duty driveshaft assembly.

Is that rear shaft a slip shaft? Going to have to inspect my C-20 to see if I have the HD bearing in there...

Re: HD Carrier Bearing Mount

Hmmm ok I don't have the HD bearing. I don't see how this bracket would work for me though -- the support bearing hangs down on the backside of the crossmember while this one would mount to the front side -- I'd need new driveshafts to make this work for me, correct?

Not sure why I can't edit my posts, that is super annoying... sorry to TC. To answer myself, yes I would need a new driveshaft to make the conversion. I think there might be a market for a simple conversion bracket to adapt from donut style to horseshoe, either like the stock rear-top horeshoe mount or a bolt-on converter bracket.

Re: HD Carrier Bearing Mount

Captain

Do you still make/have any of these brackets?

I may need one. Not sure yet if its going to work with my crossmember though.

My 3/4 - 1/2 ton conversion is fighting me at every turn. I thought I did all the research before I bought the new drop xmember and coil spring set up, but I did not at that time know about the different carrier bearings and drive shaft combos.

Basically if I could find the 1/2 ton HD carrier bearing with the 1.378" ID bearing that would be great and would work perfectly with the parts I already have. But I have found nothing like that.

My thought is that I could use your bracket but bent the tabs back down to flat, then drill holes in my xmember. My xmember is flat on the bottom side, unlike the stock one.

Re: HD Carrier Bearing Mount

Yes I still make these carrier bearing mounts as well as all of my other products.

I can weld the mounting tabs on, flat instead of angled to fit the original crossmember.

I was not aware of a difference in the HD carrier bearing between the C10 and C20's.

Re: HD Carrier Bearing Mount

You might PM or email me the center to center dimension of your carrier bearing mounting bracket. I will check it against my mounting bracket.

I can't exactly say that I know this to be fact. I gathered this through my research and comparing parts. The bearing I have has an inside dia of 1.378. And the bolt holes measure 6.624 center to center. There is also another bearing of the same style that has an ID of 1.1811 and the bolt holes measure slightly less. Don't have a measurement at this point. The CPP adapter bracket uses this bearing, unfortunately it is to small for my driveshaft. It also mounts rearward of the crossmember which is to far back for my current shaft length. I believe this part is for use with the slip style trans output shaft. I have a flange style that bolts to the trans.

I'm going to do some more thinking, but I may take you up on your offer to make a bracket with the tabs welded on flat. I'm trying to avoid drilling into my new powder coated crossmember if at all possible. This is a temporary solution to get the truck mobile. I am moving to Alabama soon and the relo company will only transport the truck running and driving, otherwise it's my responsibility and expense. When I do the engine/trans swap I will obviously have to buy a new driveshaft.
