rear leaf spring questions
are the rear 4x4 leaf springs from a 73-80 the same(52 in. ones)?
what are the differences between my stock rear 4x4 springs and the set on my longhorn? |
The newer springs are longer. Some of these guys will tell ya for sure how much difference.
|
from what I have heard there was 2 different length springs, 52 and 56. I have heard the 52 are the same
|
they changed the spring lengths in 73 I believe. I always get em mixed up from being old and not being able to remember things. someone will bail me out soon i hope....:)

Mine is a 77 chassis and they are 52". Just went out and measured.

I think your thinking of front springs which are different. 67/68 rear springs are different also. 69 on up are the same either 52" or 56" for high gvw trucks.
As for your longhorn, I'm not positive but I believe they are narrower than the 4wd springs. |
Im not sure about the 4x4's , on spring width/lenght, but my 69 longhorn has 2 1/2" x 52" springs....... L
|
56" springs are 1ton
52" are the half and 3/4 tons.
|
My 70 Longbed has 2 1/4" wide springs, but the 70 Longhorn parts truck has 2 1/2" springs. My experience with the 4x4's is they also have 2 1/2" springs. IME, Almost all are 52" except some later 3/4 tons which have the 56" springs.
