Sway bar mounting flip

I’m sure I’m not the first to think of this. But I thought I’d share the idea.

After lowering my c20 the original sway bar didn’t align nicely with the mounts in the control arms.
What I did was remount the sway bar on top of the original stand off brackets.
I had to knock out one rivet at the front of one bracket then I passed the sway bar through the other side and bent the bracket down far enough to push the sway bar through. Then I bolted down the sway bar and put in a grade 8 bolt to replace the rivet I knocked out.
This saved me buying the low profile brackets offered and seemed to me a lot less work. The bar aligns perfectly now.

This is on a 69 C20 so I’m unsure if the C10 bracket is any different and this is a stock sway bar. But worth a look if you’ve lowered your truck.

I’ve attached a few pics. The original mounting, the flipped mounting and of course the truck.

That's exactly how I did mine! Works great on the lowered trucks! ;)

Yeah figured it would have been done before. But that didn’t stop me feeling pretty clever.

That's a great idea, first time I've seen it.

Does not work on all OS's.

• Ctrl+Alt+↓ - Flip the screen upside down.
• Ctrl+Alt+→ - Rotate the screen 90° to the right.
• Ctrl+Alt+← - Rotate the screen 90° to the left.
• Ctrl+Alt+↑ - Return the screen to the standard orientation.

Knock the bracket off. And bolt the bushing clamp to the rail.

Rare to see an un bent bracket.

It took a while for the truck to get used to it’s new orientation.
Upside down and on the wrong side of the road.

I did consider knocking off the bracket, but took the easy way out.

The whole trucks in great condition. I don’t think it was ever used for work.
Rockers, cab corners are original and rust free. Tailgates straight, beds in great condition and the paint is mostly from 1969.
If it was a shortbed c10 I’d be sitting on a goldmine.
