I knew you'd get back into another medium duty. I am sure you have it all envisioned and planned out. But, mind if I show a picture for inspiration? This guy has a body shop in Edinburg, VA. Truck was tight!

Ohhhhhhh, that's nice!!!

We of course plan a little....ok.... a lot lower and the one ton chassis instead of the meduim duty, but I certainly like that one!!

It starts this weekend!!!! The cab is being pulled from the black C30 and engine bay detail and front suspension (disc brake) swap begins. Pictures to follow.

Oh no....we don't rent tools at Rottenwood.....That our shop engine hoist! Most useful and profitable tool I have ever purchased.

Engine finished, mated to trans and it along with the fuel system dropped in place. FYI, 4L80 sits in the same spot as a Turbo 400. No x-member relocation necessary but drive shaft will need to be lengthened and of course yoke changed. Now time to fab up the exhaust.

This weekend I welded up the front 7' of exhaust to include O2 sensor bungs, and hangars. Also ran all the fuel lines, oil filter housing and cooler lines along with installing the starter. Next set will be hooking up the fuel tank and final mounting of it. We are shooting for dropping the cab by mid October.

you sure the trans is in correct ?

4l80 is longer than 400 trans .

unless your doing something custom for position . . .

I'd say you're moving along nicely on this. I guess trans is longer (know that) but mount's in same place?

Yea, as you know, we dont mess around at Rottenwood. They go together rapidly and on to the next!! Lifestyle!!

Ill measure it and the 400 tomorrow for some clarification as it seems I may have installed it wrong, LOL.

OK folks, we can all breath a sigh of relief!! THE TRANSMISSION IS "IN CORRECT" and nothing "custom" had to be done!!:metal::metal::metal:

We have also confirmed that in fact, a 400 is longer than 4L80 by several inches as was quite apparent by the need to lengthen the driveshaft. HOWEVER, the transmission mounting point on both is within 1/2 inch of one another.

I'm glad we are past this bump in the road!!
