Corvette steering wheel?

Has anyone used a corvette steering wheel on their truck? Mine has a $25.00 parts store wheel on it. It looks awful, the horn doesn't work, and it is lose too. The guy that I bought the truck from was one of those people that thinks it is their job to take a nice truck and ruin it. Every thing he did to the truck whille he had it will have to be fixed or (like cutting a hole in the dash for the radio) was done very poorly, but there is nothing I can do about it. But anyway, enough complaining. What do all of you think about the corvette wheel? Or what else would be good to use?

Yes you can use it but you have to buy the adapter for it to fit, and the last one I bought was $50.00 just for the adapter. But they do look very nice when installed. Camero wheels, chevells and just about any chevy wheel will work with the right adapter. If you check my signature page you will see a corvett wheel on mine, leather wraped. Hope this helps.

Where do you get an adapter. Or is it a typical Grant steering wheel adapter from Autozone?

I bought a steering wheel from an Astro Van at a swap meet for 15.00 and it bolted right up. The horn that never worked before worked fine with a jumper wire.

I had one out of a '92 S-10 Blazer in the old Longhorn...no adapter. Horn worked too.

I have a red 79 corvette 4 spoke wheel wrapped in factory red leather for sale if you are looking for one. You do need the adapter too. Or you could buy the entire tilt/tele column from me. Just wanted to know if you are interested

How much would you want for the wheel?

Mike C 03-19-2002 11:32 PM

Try the Muscle Factory and get a '69 Camaro Comfort Grip steering wheel with the '67-'68 installation kit. Should be ~ $150 complete. That's the setup I went with in my truck except I used the '69 adapter which is a little larger in diameter.

I've got a 3 spoke chrome wheel with wood ring. It came out of my uncle's 67 vette, close to 30 years ago, my dad used it in his 58 impala convertible, which got wrecked and now I have it in my 72, fits fine and I can say I have a family heirloom for a steering wheel!!

I have a 3 spoke Leather padded wheel off a 87 Buick Regal T-Type. The T-Type package and the Grand National packages had the smaller thick padded leather wheel. Most were gray but I had a dark blue one on a 87 T-Type Turbo car I had. I got a used gray one at swap meet for $25 several years ago. Get the plastic parts also...horn button ect. It fit with no mods! horn wire worked also, just pushed into the hole where the old wire disconnects. This wheel is the perfect size for our trucks and fits a man's hands. The smaller size makes the steering feel like a quick ratio steering box.

I have the 67-71 Corvette wheel on mine, you can find them on E-bay but there not cheap. The adapter is around $50 and it's a must have. The wheel is a split rim, the bottom spoke is mounted to the back of the ring and the dish is flatter than the aftermarkets. It's a Pain to get all the right parts but it looks great. Chevells, Cameros, Corvettes, and Olds 443 had them. There all the smae. The hub is all the same. Classic industies has the repros.
