How do I go about purchasing the plate? I will skip the bracket so I can keep it close to the firewall. Can you confirm the correct fittings for the hydroboost. I believe they are o-ring fittings in sizes M18-1.5 & M16-1.5

Last year I converted my existing PS lines to 6-AN TFE with flare fitting adapters. I figure all I need now is two hoses and two 0-ring to -6AN fittings.

As for the fittings, I don't recal for sure......that sounds about right. There is a seller on ebay that sells all 3 hydroboost fittings to adapt to -6AN for about $24.00.

I am going to buy those same fittings. One thing that I do not know yet because I have not gotten them yet is about the diameter of the hole in the 5/16 fitting. This has to be the same diameter as the stock nipple had or it can lead to instability in the system from what I have read from people who have done a ton of these. It probably already is but would be something worth checking out. Otherwise it is a good idea to drill it out.

Interesting point. At a minimum, I would think the diameter matches the side being adapted (5/16). Any smaller would restrict flow. I'm betting some smart engineer designed them to support the proper flow.

I ordered the Ebay fittings this morning. I still need the TFE hose and 90 degree 6-AN fittings. I plan to flip the hydroboost so the fittings are on the bottom. I think that would make for a cleaner install. Does anyone know if flipping it will cause a problem?

Nope will not cause any problems. A lot of people flip them. Heck some of the aftermarket companies like for Corvettes ONLY have them upside down. I think that I am going to flip mine too

This morning I mounted the hydroboost using John's booster bracket and plate. I still need to reroute the high pressure line but you get an idea of how it looks. As you can see I flipped it so the fittings are on the bottom. The stainless TFE hose and ends came from Summit. I have around $300 in the setup (not including the master cylinder).

I took a test drive around the block. From the time I stepped on the pedal I could feel the difference. The brakes feel like my newer cars. It will certainly takes some getting used to.

I've got to ask, how did you piece this together for ~300?

What I am seeing:

Booster ~150
Cptn Brackets & Plate ~70
Lines ~220

Where did you save? I am planning on doing exactly as you have except painted semi glass black.

Lines ~ $110 (includes four -6 AN TFE fittings and 6ft of TFE hose)
Hydroboost Fittings on Ebay ~$28 w/ shipping

That comes out to $328. There were other nominal cost such as a barb T fitting from Home Depot and hose clamps. To save costs I only used the teflon for the high pressure lines. The return line is regular stainless hose. I had an extra piece left over from an earlier project. That stuff is pretty cheap (6ft @ $25). You could save there by using 3/8" rubber hose. In the end I had leftover fittings. That's because I converted my PS lines to TFE last year and the high pressure line off the PS pump was long enough to reach the booster. So in all I have closer to $350 invested. That includes the fittings below.

Awesome! Thanks. The hoses are the biggie. I have seen the reman pumps too, was just planning to buy new for the extra $20.

As it turns out if I am not mistaken I only need one line. I converted mine over to TFE on both lines due to my March kit. So I just need to T and connect the low pressure and make one more high pressure TFE for the second line.

Still need to make it to an event and see your truck.

I pretty much did the same thing and looked for mid to early 90s units. Settled on one from a 93' Chevy Truck.

I wonder if there is a huge difference between them and the ones on the newer (99+) Tahoes and Silverados? Those are much easier for me to find.

IIRC from reading other Captnfab threads, the mounting hole spacing differs in later years, I could be wrong.

I have one from a 2005 GMC 2500HD, but I'm also using the master from the same truck. I picked up a Wilwood proportioning valve 260-11179. I went this route because I have a 4 wheel disc brakes with dual piston calipers on all 4 corners.

In terms of MC and P.Valve I'll be using the MCPV-1 from CPP. Combine the two in a pretty sleek package, as seen above in AusTex68's truck.

I'm running 4 wheel disc brakes (95' Camaro rear calipers/stock 72' front calipers) with the CPP MCPV-1. I feel my braking is almost too good. It actually took a little getting used to. It's great now that I'm trained :)

I can't imagine the braking with dual piston calipers.

As far as I am aware the mounting hole spacing does not matter as you are going to take off the mount from the Silverado and use Captfab's adapter to adapt directly to the mount.

I think this is close to the route that I plan on taking. I do kind of wish that I could some how adapt all of the 1500 6 lug brake components to my C10. I know you can do that on the front... but the rear would be cool too. I might have to take some stuff apart and see what I come up with.

Ditto, good to hear. My rear Wilwoods should be in today or Monday (front's are already installed). After learning how easy it was to do hydroboosted brakes I couldn't bring myself to let it be vacuum assisted, after putting such good components on elsewhere.

That is correct. It does not matter what the factory mounting bracket is like. That can be removed and my hydroboost mounting plate installed. To my knowledge all the hydroboost units themselves have the same threaded 'stub' on the back.

If you want 4 wheel disc brakes, you can use the '88-'98 light duty C2500 front spindles and rotors, and assorted other pieces as described in the 'Disc Brake Upgrade Thread'. For the rear, you can use my 6 lug rear disc brake brackets for use with 15" wheels. These use the same calipers as would be on the front of the '88-'98 C1500 or light duty C2500.

I was referring to the later 99+ brakes, but I have given that option some thought as well. I work in a late model salvage yard so those parts are easier to come by then the 98 back parts. I wonder if the 99-07 brakes fit on the 98 back spindles like the 07+ brakes work on the 99-07 spindles....? May have to mock that up but that's another thread all together.
