New Bumpers?

I need new chrome bumpets for my 84. I was going to order them from LMC but I see they have 2 levels available with one having supposedly better chrome. Can anybidy reccomend a vendor for these or if the more expensive LMC bumpers are worth it? I see Classic Parts out of KCMO sells just one, are they good? I plan on this truck being a summer driver for the next 20 years.

If you are planning on keeping it, I would buy the better ones. Of course it's easy top say that when it's someone else's money :)

My friend tim has lac bumpers on his truck. They look like they fit well but the chrome is peeling off in thick sheets. I'm not sure if it's the "premium" one or not but any bumper worth a damn shouldn't peel like that.

Why not just have yours re-chromed? Had mine done, not too much more than buying new bumpers...and since they are tru GM bumpers, the quality and thickness is much better.

Ogden Chrome does a great job, but it is much more expensive than repops. Big Block, where did you get yours chromed, and how much? Looks like you got the bolts welded and smoothed as well. Very nice!

I had mine re-chromed at Keystone (Brainerd MN). I paid just under 500 a piece, but that included a little metal work and welding the carriage bolts in.

These thinks are NICE, very glad I went this way as oppoised to "new" bumpers with poor chrome.

If you must have the best quality OEM bumpers then rechroming is the way to go. I got quotes of $350 per for a standard rechrome here in Tucson. If you can tolerate just a good OEM bumper with a few small scratches, you can find them on CL for $100-$150 all over the southwest. I sold two nice front bumpers for $40 each - a few scratches but overall good shiny chrome.

I bought the premium chrome bumpers from LMC and installed them on my truck a few weeks back. So far I am very satisfied with them. My truck is just something I get out a couple times a month to cruise around town in. No rain, dirt or grime to touch them though.
