Towing Pics

I am new the the forum but not to these trucks. I have owned my 71 c10 for 20 years. Been thinking of building another c20 or c30 for hauling a gooseneck trailer. I use the trailer to haul some compact tractors and other equipment and thought building a retro hauler would be a fun project. Anyone got any pics of these trucks towing 5th wheel or gn trailers?

I guess I don't have any on this computer. There's a member who used to post here that had a beautiful Silver & White K/20 that hauler a goose neck flat deck on his farm...in Iowa?

I'd love to find a 4x4, they are pretty scarce around here, and when you do see a nice one, pretty pricey.

Will have to take some pics of my truck. Don't have any on this computer. Truck is in storage for the winter.

That yellow truck is the concept I am after. I will definitely go the flatbed route on a dually truck. On single wheel it will depend on the condition of the pickup bed. The commercial flatbeds are nice because the gooseneck hitch is already built in, and the are almost indestructible for a work truck.

17 bales !! that's a pretty good load. I like to see "our" trucks working. I know a lot of guys wouldn't even drive there trucks out in a pasture let alone haul anything in or with them. Coop

Hats off to this Bram lad, that is a beauty truck........and a bit more respect because it's a worker. That's what they're built for.

Brams truck is a K30? I did not know they made a 1ton 4x4 in these trucks? What do you guys know about the driveline in it? I assume its a big block with a 4speed.

Re: Towing Pics

They didn't make K30's and you couldn't get a big block in a 4x4.

I assume he upgraded springs and maybe the front axle to a D60? I think you'd have to beef up the frame to make it truly a 1 ton though. Look at the C30 frames, they are bigger than the C20 frames.

If you read Billhillys post closer it says "Built up to a K30"...

Just hauled this load from NM to MT a few weeks ago. The gross load for truck and trailer was almost 17K.

Gents, I know this thread is a bit old, but am new here today and only just started digging in here. I'm getting ready to by a '71 K20 Cheyenne with a tow package: TH350 w/ tranny cooler, helper springs and all stock except for new crate 350. I'm considering hauling my 32' 5th wheel camper with it and would like to see how you guys installed your gooseneck hitches. All resalers of such only list down to '73 for compatibility. I was reading another thread about guys putting goosenecks in c10's which have pinched-down frame rails over the rear axel and shock absorber attachment points on the outside of the frame rails making the installation problematic. Any insight/photos would be enthusiastically received.

Re: Towing Pics

The frame on your K20 is nearly identical to the '73 and later. I don't see a problem.

If it was 2WD and coil springs that might be different

Thank you for the quick reply Bigdav. I was hoping this to be the case.
