Power Brake Booster Braces

Does anyone have a picture of their firewall with the Power Brake Booster mounted and the braces attached? I need to see where they attach to the firewall.
Thanks Rick / Ca.

I know one bolts to one of the bolts for the emergency brake. The other maybe to the booster mount

Braces

Exactly what I needed.
Thanck You
My truck came with Power Brakes, But never had the Braces on it.
I'm replacing the booster, Master cyl. & brake lines and I thought I should make it right.

Do you need to have both? I just have the top one on mine.

I'm pretty sure the braces were only on 71 and 72...never seen them on anything older

Braces

That explanes it. My truck was a 70 origionally. I converted it over pretty much to a 72 over the years. And now for the brake booster.
Thanks
Rick / Ca.

So do you have to use the brackets? Randy

chevytruckfan 05-21-2005 10:41 PM

I don;t have any on mine and it works fine.

Braces

I've had my truck for 35yrs without them, so obviously you don't need them.
Gm must have put them on the 71 & 72's for some reason, so I thought I would add them.

Rick, Braces At Your Age?

Heck, I didn't even know your teeth were CROOKED! HeHe! Must be workin' hard on that brake setup, haven't heard from you. Looks like I will be in the Valley in early AUG, I will let you know as plans firm up. Take care, The Rod

Re: Power Brake Booster Braces

I have recently performed the same brake system upgrade on my 68 k20. I had to find the 5&1/2 inch booster to firewall brackets from the j yard. While retrieving the brackets off of the 72 donor I noticed the two braces and decided to take them as well.

When I got the parts back I noticed there where no holes or studs on the firewall to mount them to. I was not able to see any photos on this thread for some reason. Does anyone have any or maybe some tips on drilling and fabrication to make them fit.

The picture from my 69 below should help. The round brace goes to the stud ABOVE the arrow (not where it's pointing) along with the wire harness clip. The other brace will require drilling a hole for a bolt where the white circle is. There's probably a dimple at that spot. I suggest you check the precise location for the hole using your brace prior to drilling.

Thanks Rick / Ca.

The booster is a dual diaphragm type but uses the stock braces.

Get behind the wheel of that thing and you'll do more than drool. I took my girlfriend on a pass at the local dragstrip on test and tune night and she wet her pants.
