Chrome Plating and Stainless work
Anybody ever used one of the chrome platers in San Antonio? I know El Paso does a good job, but I can drive to SA and home in a day to take my stuff and talk to them.
Also looking for someone who does stainless work. I have some trim that needs a little more TLC than I can give. Thanks |
Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
Robert, are you closer to Austin. There is a place there that does good work. If you are interest, I will ask my neighbor for details. Clay

Yes, about 2 hours, nothing for a drive in Texas. Please let me know.

Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
You rained on my parade...haha....I was hollering elpaso,elpaso,elpaso.....until I got to the end...
Make sure they do repair work as well as plating...I know a guy from the IH world that sent off 4 collectable scout bumpers to a place in Texas, for what he thought was straightening and plating ...he got back warped newly plated bumpers....when he complained, they said we dont straighten, only plate... |
Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
Well, this is all I was given. Cen-tex plating. The neighbor said he had the headliner bows on his '55 Belair and the rear bumpers on a '69 Corvette. They did good on both and he thought the price was reasonable. His name on these forums is Roger55 if you want to look him up to see what work he does. Clay

Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
With the number of hot rod and custom shops around the Austin area or within an hour of Austin I'd say that there may be more than one high quality chrome shop.
I'm finding these in a search https://www.bing.com/maps?q=Chrome+p...6b482ecbfdb1f3 Masterson and ICP are hard chroming and can be marked off the list. Not being able to hit shows and ask "who did your plating" puts a bit of a bind on things. |
Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
Mongo, I was thinking El Paso and have contacted them already. I was looking for someone I could drive to and talk to about the parts. I used a shop in Houston for some stuff on the Jeep and was not impressed. I found another Houston shop that worked the grill on the Jeep, but it is aluminum, not chrome or stainless.
The guy I used for the stainless was good, but his phone is off, his website is down and he hasn't answered his email. I don't have a good feeling about him. So I'm still thinking about chrome and still need some stainless work. |
Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
You probably checked with these guys in Houston. https://www.justchromeit.com/ then.
Just a thought, sounds rather lame but you might call/contact Martin Brothers, Austin Speed shop or one of the other well known for quality shops and ask who they use. |
Re: Chrome Plating and Stainless work
Thanks Mr48. Funny you should mention those speed shops, there is one here in town I was going to call.
