Sounds like the crank triger is shorted somehow,, maybe the pickup is bad? Sorry, but a call to MSD may be your only avenue of real thelp. Oh, havent checked, don't they have a troubleshooting checklist on their site?

I dont know anything about the digital boxes . You do need to phase the dist before you try to fire it though . I use an old cap with a big hole cut out by the #1 plug wire so I dont have to drill a hole in a new one .

Sounds like something in the box is wrong. See if you can borrow another box and try it.

Re: went to fire my 555

what kind of trigger is it? what dist you got. I just put the regular 6al2 in my buddies car and we had trouble with a bad pick up in the dist. do you have an old 87 to 95 chevy truck dist laying around. If you do take the module out and crimp the two wire plug onto the mag pickup wires in the base of the distributor and try using that dist to trigger the box?
