made a new faceplate mold without the logo for reasons I'm sure you can understand why. just poured the first part. lets hope it turns out. I will take photos later.

Cool to see you are still going on these I use to do a lot of urethane casting for work producing short runs of prototype parts from silicone tools It's hard work but satisfying when you produce the prefect part.

Have you tried using some anti foaming agent in the urethane such as http://www.bjbenterprises.com/af-4/ It could help lower your failure rate by reducing air bubbles in the urethane before you pour and it also helps it to degas it faster. I have no association with BJB but have just used the product in the past and it does help.

Also if you polish the pins they will pull out of the casting with less resistance or risk of cracking the casting. Keep up the good work cheers

oh hell yeah bro... hell yeah! when I get to that stage i will cut up my dash and acquire a set of these! Wonder how that would work with a 64 farm truck that had no options.

i cant see why it would not work. I have a 65 with very little options. I want to do a Vintage air IV but with factory vents and not the under dash after market vents. this is the reason I started this project to begin with. after I realized I could make the center vents and I saw some other members using after market side vents I was like "I can make those but look factory" so here I am.

Hey corvettejim1968, glad to see you have perservered through some trials and kept this going. Just checking to be sure I am on your list, looks like I sent you a request around May8, 2014. I deleted the original I sent to you, but I do have a response from you on May 8. I'll be looking for the entire package deal at $400 that you mentioned. Looking forward to a Vintage Air install in a few months. Not 100% sure how it will all hook up to this system, but will figure it out. Has anyone else figured it out that you know of?

I'll echo the 'atta-boy' . . .... Glad to see you continued pushing forward.

Also, it's amazing how remaining in constant contact to communicate delays in the process helped keep those interested patient, informed, & understanding. Others would be wise to follow that format.

I didn't get on the list back then but have been watching progress & I'm still interested.

thank you all again. this has been alot harder than i anticipated but i know it will be worth it in the end. most of the problem is making a good part. alot of them have flaws and im picky. the other problem is the 5 week turnaround from the chrome guy. i wont let you down its just going to be a slower process than i want it to be thats all.

Bless you Jim for your service to our country and all this amazing work! I have a 66 that I am tearing down and it has no AC, just an ashtray and a pull knob for heat. I was thinking the AC will be a future add on but you have me wondering whats the best approach now. I need to figure out what cuts to maybe make now as I am having the cab sand blasted and fixing up. I was about to give up hope on having a factory looking ac on the dash. Great to know you are on this!

Jim,
I believe I am on you list, if not will you please add me? If you have any extra small side vents (pair) I would like to get them even if you don't have a complete set to ship. I am at the point in painting my cab where I would like to get them mapped out. Thanks as well for your awesome work and photos to show the process.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

so here is the latest update... I hired my roommate to make all the parts and my part is to make all the molds , all shipping , all the sales work and advertising. we had a set back with the molds two of them dried out and now I need to make more. I'm picky about my work so I'm training my roommate to produce my level of quality. we will get there someday soon I hope because I know your all waiting for your parts.

on a positive note after paying on credit cards over the last 18 years I made my final payment on Monday earlier this week. now I can concentrate on buying better supplies for my project. thank you all for the feedback and your patience.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

an update.

so i called the chrome guy this morning. i should have the center vents back from chrome in 2 weeks and the large vent balls in 6 weeks. i know its taking a long time. I shipped 1 small vent ball to a different chrome place and they charged me $90 and that did not cover shipping it to them. the quality was horrible. so im sticking with the guy i have but the down side is we all wait a long time.
