1976 Cheyenne LT1 swap completed and she sounds nasty!

Hey guys I have posted some builds on here but this one is my LT swap. This is a LT1 with a 6l80e 6 speed auto trans. It has dual 3 inch black widow mufflers. For steering I wanted to try out electric power steering. So far its working great. The video I talk about it a bit more. Plan is to keep the outside the way it is. This is a driver and street brawler build. Not a show truck. I am to hard on things for that. Next I need to get a posi unit for the 12 bolt rear. Acceleration is great and it idles at 560 rpm with a texas speed stage 2 cam. This build is actually not a LT1 though. I fibbed. It is a L83 truck engine converted to the LT1 intake. I cant afford the 6.2. I got the L83 off ebay for 1800$ shipped. Bought the 6l80e of ebay for 700$ shipped. Installed a circle D 3000 stall in it. its a great combo and I love it. I convert gen V and Gen IV harness for standalone builds and this is second personnal build with a Gen V. My other is a 1996 2 door 4x4 Tahoe. That one is my daily. This one is close to being done. I am working on getting the factory AC working this weekend then start cleaning up the engine bay.

Let me know what you think.

She sounds mean! Waiting on my widowmakers here. Never seen electric steering but that’s pretty trick though. Cool build dude!

I just got a pair of 3" race venoms installed behind my 6.8 L. Way too loud.... Not sure how long I'll run them. I thought my 40 series flowmasters were rowdy.

I’ve always liked loud exhausts. Not open headers loud but loud is a ok in my book lol. I had to wear my shooting muffs when I started my LS swap in the garage. Lol rattled my brain at first lol.

Well, let me put it this way. I had the truck hauled to the muffler shop on a rollback. I fired it up and drove it into the shop with open headers. When we were done and I drove it out of the shop, the guy inside at the counter said "I thought we put an exhaust on it, how did you guys make it louder?"

Right! These are not mufflers they are amplifiers!

I thought u were putting the DI 6 cylinder in it?

Well having 2 less cylinder would thought to be an easy fit. The accessory drive hit the frames way to bad. I did not want to come up with a new drive system. I then decided to do another Gen v swap.

That's awesome, Tell me about the power steering. I am working toward a swap but am going to try the V6 version in my Camaro just to be different. If that doesnt work then on to the V8 like yours.
What pump did you use?
Thanks
Dave

Vannata20,

What did you do for fuel pump??

Re: 1976 Cheyenne LT1 swap completed and she sounds nasty!

I will be using a Boyd’s welding tank with a LT4 fuel pump. This will be controlled if the pwm fuel controller. For now I am using a stock electric in tank pump at 57 psi.
