Frame mounts for Pontiac

Hi, among my projects I have a 1969 GMC SWB w/ 305 V6. In an effort to make a cooler truck I have scored a low mileage Pontiac 400. Since GMC once used Pontiac V8s, I felt this was a perfect and fitting upgrade. Once upon a time I read or was told there is a frame side motor mount to make this a "factory" look install. Does anyone know the source for this mount? My goal is to make a factory look install down to appropirate emissions stickers, just cause.

I have ideas about factory mounts but need to know what year Pontiac 400 you have, or how many motor mount holes are on each side of the block...

the 69 and back motors have two motor mount holes on each side of the block, the 70 and later ones usually have five holes on each side of the block. and on the 70 and later blocks ....usually all five holes are drilled and taped for bolts. on a few of the later engines some of the holes are not drilled and tapped as a cost cutting measure.

if your block is a 70 and later engine you have the advantage of two motor mount choices. which comes in handy if you must fab up a set of frame mounts. your task is not difficult either way but it will be interesting.

Good luck

Mike nailed it about the blocks. Hopefully you have a 1970 and up with 5 holes so you can
use the 3 hole F-body mounts, which is the way to go if I remember right.

Thanks guys for the feedback. My block is a 76 from a 65K one owner. The Bonneville was driven by a "little old lady" for 10 years and then just parked outside. Mother nature did her thing to an old four door, but I am betting on a good engine.

Nice. One thing about those 400 blocks. Mid 1975 and up (cast #500577) are "light duty" blocks with thin main webs. No biggie if you do not plan pushing beyond 450-hp or so. Should have the good "6X" heads with big valves & screw in studs though.
