Re: 3/4 vs 1/2 ton frames
Hi Dubb welcome to the site, as far as I know the 3/4 ton frame should be about 12.23 inches longer than the 1/2 ton frame which means your 1/2 ton bed will be short. I'm not sure about the radiator support, you might be able to make that work. Here's some links that might help http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com...resto/5055.htm http://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/

You didn't say what years you were looking for so here is the Chevy support for 47-54.

Re: 3/4 vs 1/2 ton frames
thanks for all replies the years are 47-54 mine is a 53 though i been doing alot of comparing since i have both frames now . But i should of compared the GMC 1/2 ton vs. Chevy 1/2 ton .what im going to do is take everything off the 3/4 chevy and install it on my gmc 1/2 ton frame. i found out that gmc 1/2 ton frame is longer and the radiator support are diff .
thanks for alll help |
Re: 3/4 vs 1/2 ton frames
From all of the research I've done, the 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton frame differences are very minor. One website says they're the same, the next says a 3/4 is a bit thicker, but I haven't been able to confirm this. I've also read that the lengths are different between GMC and Chevy frames - again, I cant confirm this.
And just because it is a long bed does NOT mean it's a 3/4 ton! I have a 1/2 ton long bed. |
Re: 3/4 vs 1/2 ton frames
The GMC pictured above is a 51 1/2 ton long bed too. The Chevy pic is from my 47 Panel.
