Fuel tank for ‘68 C10 Suburban

I’ve had my Suburban for about 10 years now. Runs fine, 350 and stick with factory 4.10 gears so it isn’t super happy on the freeway.
I’d really like to use it as a semi daily like I did previously for several years but now I work further away. Long story short, I bought a 2005 Sierra that had been hit in the rear. Runs great, only 160k miles. I looked for a while to find the right wreck so as to be able to use as much as possible for the swap. The only thing I would’ve preferred is if I had found one with a manual trans but they seem super rare in my area- possibly everywhere? In my quest to not buy more stuff than necessary, I’m wondering about the fuel tank from the ‘05. I have the bed removed and see the tank. Not huge but that could be helpful in fitting it in. Second choice would be if I could put the fuel pump in the ‘68 tank. Last option for me would be to buy another tank.. So- that’s the question. Anyone been able to fit their donor rig’s tank into their project truck? Pictures, just because |

You could use vetted works weld in fuel pump ring setup
They also have it pre welded to a blazer tank with a new pump installed I am planing on going this route for my build I already have a new tank in the shop waiting for install https://vetteworksonline.com/catalog...products_id=89 |

I am not sure about the 2005 tank but I used the 2003 pump module in my stock suburban tank.

did u cut out the top of the stock 03 tank and weld in ur original tank? looks like it from the pics?

The '05 tank is side mounted = not going to work.
I used a '90 square body Suburban tank and straps. I repositioned one of the rear frame crosmembers and bought an extra from a board member. Those crossmembers hold the straps and top of the tank in perfect position. I did have to relocated the filler neck on the tank. It wasn't too hard. |

could u just weld a return fitting on ur current tank? thats my plan but i havent got that far yet. doesnt solve the fuel slosh though. from what i have been reading, the 87 blazer tank setup is probably the best for over the counter stuff in case u need to swing by an oreillys for something.

Bigdav did you use the 90 tank sending unit or the complete 03 sending unit and pump ?
I have a 96 burb tank i picked up years back when I thought of going l31 vortec fi I have not striped my 03 yet to see what I had to change to make it fit I found the vette works pump ring shipping is retarded to Canada easy part to make if needed |

Any suggestions on using the factory fuel pump that I have from the 05 in an 87-90 squarebody blazer/suburban tank? Or do I need to buy an aftermarket pump for it?

I wouldn't bother trying to make a 160k mile pump fit that sender. Just buy an ep381 pump for 75 bucks and not have to worry about it again.

Use your stock tank and an f body fuel module. Regulator is built in and your un-baffled tank wont be a problem as the module has a cup that will keep the pump submerged in fuel. I suppose you could use the truck module as they look similar but I know the f body module can compress to fit in shallow tanks. The stock blazer or suburban tanks are pretty deep so the height of a truck module shouldn't be a problem.
