I did with the brake best rotors but ended up going with duralast rotors no problem

So the outside brake pad was rubbing on the Brake Best rotors but not on the Duralast rotors?

you got it

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks for confirming that. I have a customer that is having this problem, and I have been trying to figure out why. This is the first I have heard of the pad rubbing since the first few I made. I then made a change to compensate, and hadn't heard of this issue till now. I kind of thought it could be manufacturing tollerances with the pads and/or rotors.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Hoping CaptFab or someone else can lend some expertise/experience: I am wondering if I need to route new brake lines and if so what bore size to compensate for the change from drum to disks.

Basically wanting to make sure i have proper pressure everywhere needed.

Current Set-up:
- Front : ECE Drop/Disk Brake Kit
- Rear: CaptFab D52 brakes (with the astro van rotors and caddi e-brake calipers)

Master Cyl :
- Wilwood Manual Master - Part #
- 1" Bore (Same as Corvettes Ran) but i am going to call wilwood before ordering to be sure

Currently I have the stock Drum/Drum Lines front to rear

Should I route new lines either with a pre-bent kit or bend my own, and what size line should i be looking for?

Sorry Capt. Soon as I posted I thought it might be high jacking the thread

So I posted a new thread topic Here:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...22#post5216322

Thought it might help anyone else trying to run this setup also.

how much for the D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets shipped to 74014?

thanks Dennis

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

They're still the same price as in post #1.....$230.00 plus a flat rate shipping of $10.00. So a total of $242.00 to your door regardless of where you live in the USA.

Captain,

I'll be looking to buy some of your brackets in the near future. Are you still looking at producing the brackets and levers for the ebrake on the El Dorado calipers in the near future? Thanks for sharing all of your info. Much appreciated.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I do still have plans of reproducing the levers and brackets. I did have some levers laser cut, but I've been so busy I haven't had time to finish them up yet.

Hey Capt.Got my brackets in...Great product!!! One question, the "c'' bracket does not bolt flush to my flange on the rear end because theres a lip.See pics. Do I grind on the c bracket "hate to mess up powder coat" or do I put washers and shim it out?
Thanks,

Captainfab 04-17-2012 12:13 AM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

The base bracket is supposed to fit over the lip on the backing plate flange. Do not shim it out with washers....your caliper won't line up with the rotor. No one has mentioned this issue before. It looks like I may need to increase the diameter of the inside of the base bracket to allow more clearance for the powder coating. At this point, I would suggest reducing the diameter of the lip on the backing plate flange. This should be easiest done with a flat file, removing a little at a time until the base bracket fits. Then you can touch up the paint on the flange. The other option would be for me to send you another set of base brackets that have a larger inside diameter. Let me know, if you would rather go that route.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks Capt, Thats all I need to know. I'll make them fit. Just didn't know if I had to shim them out. Again Great product and service!
Thanks,

Captainfab 04-17-2012 11:43 PM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

It's just the thickness of the powder coat that is making them too small. I thought I had allowed enough for that but apparently not. Looks like I need to make the ID on those another .010-.015 bigger.

I'll filed the flange just a hair and the brackets fit perfect.
Thanks,

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Cool.....I knew it shouldn't take much to get them to fit over that lip.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Capt'n - Any more thought or update on reproducing the levers?

I already have the brackets and being able to get the levers from you too and buy the reman calipers from a parts store would be a huge move forward for everyone

I haven't been able to locate any in a junkyard so this is my only current option: http://tsmmfg.com/3121.htm

Issues with the TSM calipers seem to be since they are New and not rebuilt calipers, TSM made some design changes so you cannot swap the calipers/brackets out from your local parts store with reman parts if you ever have any issues.

Sorry about dropping the ball on this guys. Working 7 days a week just doesn't leave much extra time. I'll make a better effort to see about getting these done. I have the levers already laser cut, I just need to get them formed up.

RdoubleU, the brackets you mentioned, are those the D52 brackets you got from me, or are you talking about the e-brake cable brackets?
