New dip stick

Anybody know where I can get a stock Chevy dip stick for a 350?
All I have found in the local parts houses are "close" to being right or cut to fit.
TIA,
Kevin D

Does it have a driver's side dip stick or passenger side one? I got a driver's side one from the local chevy dealer, which fit way better than anything I have seen aftermarket.

Drivers side. Might have to stop by the dealer.

I'll toss in another vote for getting it at the dealer; cheap and fits like it's supposed to.

Do you have a part #? Dealer says it’s too old to look up

Does year matter? Or is this pretty much a universal dip stick? I need a new one for my 77, the one that’s in there is way too loose and the entire tube pulls out when i check the oil

For those that have the dip stick on driver's side of engine. The hole sizes are different than the ones on the passenger side. Not sure what the cutoff year was for the changeover

I think they moved it to the passenger side starting with 1980 models. Some blocks and oil pans, like those used on the base Goodwrench 350 crate engine, have provisions for both sides.

Re: New dip stick

If you install a crate engine and use the driver-side dipstick, be sure to correctly plug the hole on the passenger side or you'll have yourself the rare "continuous oil-mist undercarriage rust inhibitor" option installed. The plastic shipping plug is not all that is required. Ask me how I know. And be sure to do this when building the engine on the stand. Before the exhaust manifolds are on.

PO install, by the way... heh.

Local dealer doesn't have one in stock and says he can't order it because it is discontinued. Can anyone recommend another source?

These might be worth a try. Neither one is chrome.

73-79 350 older factory motor dipstick on pass side.
Try motor rebuilder shop local. just tell them what year motor and side dipstick you have Oh and if you changed your bottom end, oil pump, oil pan bigger, or deeper if not stock.
