Suburban roof racks - got any advice?

Been thinking about getting a roof rack, was hoping some of you would have some input.

I see one made by Smittybuilt, one by ARB, and one called a "Defender." Some are bolt-together and some are welded, 1-piece units.

Some basic questions:

Which one/brand is best?
I assume they all attach by drilling through the roof?
Easy to install?
How much weight can they handle?
OK to put the spare up there?
How many inches of height do they add overall?
Any other issues/concerns/advice?

Thanks!

Do 89's still have gutters? I love old con-ferr racks but they're no longer made. It was bought by diamond racks tho. There's a thread with a 1989 suburban build called Dante's inferno build with a con-ferr. They are on Craigslist often 150-500 depanding on size and welded vs bolt together. The gutter clamps are expensive if not included. On another note, I have a surco rack that was on my van id sell cheap but aluminum vs steel. Here's a con-ferr on my van
