What would you pay?

Hi All-

Looked at a 90 R2500 today with 234k miles.

Good

454,t400
Silverado, loaded
two tone, blue/silver (very sharp color combo) on immaculate blue cloth, 3rd row
dual a/c and heat, newer tires
Posi rear

There is no 4.11 rear code listed so does this mean it has 3.73 OR was another ratio standard?

Bad

Needs trans rebuilt
Bubbling around DS wheelwell with rot behind rear tire, certainly still presentable
One body mount is compromised but not gone
Rear heater bypassed

My intentions are to use this as a spare vehicle (dump, HD) and to pull my car around in the summer. I actually like this interior style better than the 92-94.

Same answer. That's what they are going for around here with trans issues. Most people seem to be parting them out instead.

If it's for sale, what's the asking price?

Have a picture? That helps out a lot!

As far as the gearing I'm not sure off hand.

I didnt want to post the asking price to skew the responses.

He is asking 650, it was in the local classifeds for 4 weeks and no sale. I called the week after the ad expired. It has been another 2-3 weeks since my initial contact.

His sons are salivating over parting it out but he won't let them.

He told multiple times yesterday he needs it out of the yard.

I was going to offer 300-400 max. It will need to be towed to my hose which is about 50 miles away.

$300 sounds like a good starting point. Can't hurt to ask, he can always say $350, $400 or $450.

Then if you have AAA have them tow it (free). If not find a good friend or family member with it to tow it for you. I have used AAA 3 times when I bought a car not driving. I just use a local tow company I know to go get it and have the tow company charge AAA.

Hope it works out for ya!

Are the trans in the Suburbans considered short tail shaft?

I am familiar with the car tranny's but not these. I know BOP trans have long and short tail shafts.

Should be here in a few days. paid 600. He knew if he parted it out he could get prob a few thousand for the desireable parts.

Tires are like new, it wanted to move in drive but not reverse. Front pump whined whens started.

Started up with good oil pressure after not being started since before xmas.

All in all a very fair deal and the truck has potential.

It was here when I got home.

Any idea why the DS front floor might be wet? Door wasn't shut well, hoping that's all it is/was.
