700r4 lock-up kits

My 700r4 is about done and will be needing a lock-up kit. Please recommend or not recommend a kit that you have used personally. Daily driver 300 hp, 350 sbc. Mild towing on occasion.

BTO.

Lock up kit AND TVmadeEZ kit. Been in my truck since 2004 and 50-60K miles. Trans still shifts like new.

I set my trans up using a pressure gauge.

Number 3 for Bow Tie Overdrives. Used them in my ‘69 Suburban build and worked great. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

I have a TCI in mine, but it's not the one in your survey. I don't believe they sell it anymore anyway. Clinebarger recommended it in one of his threads.

Re: 700r4 lock-up kits

As a note of importance, make sure whatever kit you buy has a brake switch override as part of the lock up kit. If you make an emergency stop while the TC is locked up your truck can stall and if you have power brakes makes it very difficult to stop.

I had a different kit in my truck before the BTO kit and almost got in an accident when some asshat pulled out in front of me and my truck stalled.

The override switch unlocks the TC when you push on the brakes.

Wow great info thanks everyone. The Bow Tie I did not see a lock up kit. Just a cable kit but man did that look's like a nice kit and all the info with it is great.

There is a section on the BTO website called: Converter Lockup Wiring

You should find what you need in there. Also, I have their TV Cable setup and it's nice and would recommend it.
