Spare tire mount stepside guestion
Is the short bed mount the same as a long. I can buy a short fender and mount for cheap. But if I can't use it makes no sense to me. Unless I were to sell or trade for a long mount.
I know one arm goes thru the fender on a short but is the mount tself the same? |
Re: Spare tire mount stepside guestion
Pretty sure the mount is different. My long bed mount is attached to angle and don’t see it able to go thru a fender. It has been repaired but I’d offer it to you if you needed it.

The mounts are not the same. Here's some threads that shows pictures of the long and short bed mounts.

The mounts are different!
The short bed mount sits higher. The longbed mount sits lower and the cutout in the fender is lower too and farther forward. The braces for the mounts are at a different angle too. They won't interchange. Maybe someone has pics of both for comparison. Here's a thread from the 60/66 forum about these spare tire mounts. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...re+tire+mounts Mike.:chevy: |
