My No Limit rack and pinion install
 

Hi all, I have been wanting to install the No Limit rack and pinion setup since it was developed. I just couldn't justify it so I waited. There had not been much information on the boards on those who installed this, I didn't want to be one of those who purchased but didn't follow up with a review.

I want to start out with a big shout out and thank you to Rob on all his help and knowledge that he is willing to share on this site, he has certainly added to my knowledge. As said above I wanted to do this for a while the other day I was reading a post and came to Rob's answer it was so through it put me over the edge on the purchase.

Back to the install and first thoughts. This kit is very well thought out. When I first started the install it went really fast and everything was falling into place as expected and was on track to finish quickly. However my truck is complete so I have several things to work around. This was no big deal but it did take extra time.
The directions are straight forward, I needed to use a right angle drill to get some of the bracket holes so I would suggest that. I also had to fabricate some steering stops as i had removed mine as most probably have. I am using a factory tilt steering column and had indication this would work but maybe not ideal, I decided to try this and see how it fit. I initially installed the factory upper "U-joint" this kinda fit but had a catch in it going lock to lock. I never drove it like this but called No Limit and had them send me the correct upper splined joint and some 3/4 DD rod. This fixed this "catch" so if you are going this route definitely order this new joint it will take care of all the problems.
After all was installed and bleed I somewhat aligned this and went for a drive. I can say there is a definite and huge difference in the feel of the truck. My original front end components didn't have too many miles and was all Moog parts but this rack and pinion is tight. It is very responsive, after this shake down I rechecked and adjusted the toe a little more. I will get a much more detailed drive report as I plan to drive it tomorrow to work and schedule a real alignment. If you are thinking about this it is a great well thought out kit. It is going to make my truck feel much more connected.

Thanks Jim I will keep this updated. I have an alignment setup for Friday I don't think things are too bad. I have read tons on the alignment and have found a little conflicting information not much but since some have gone back years ago I know thoughts and info have changed.
I have done the "caster mod" and have tubular upper a-arms so I can get some good positive caster along with some negative camber. I am thinking to set the caster at positive 6 with camber maybe negative 1? or is this too much camber, last I did this I think that is where I ended up. Should I lower both of these? Then on toe, I have seen reference to both toe in and toe out. I beieve I have always done toe in about an 1/8th total. Maybe I try an 1/8th out?

I received some alignment settings from Rob so I should be set. I will report back.

Hey thanks for sharing your experience and review with Robs R&P kit ,I will be following your thread here , being I bought this kit sometime ago and will be installing it soon, along with a ridetech Streetgrip kit, your review gives me positive encouragment on my end results . I will be looking foward to your next post.

I was able to get an alignment and have been driving this some. my specs ended up with
7.7 degrees caster and -.7 degrees camber both sides being the same. I had told him toe of total 1/8 inch. He did this in degrees and I will need to check the sheet but it was almost set at 0. I think I need a little toe in for driving. Rob suggested I mark this and get a little toe out for Autocrossing, I can do this and go straight back for my "street" tune.
