I have this series of working 67-72 trucks picture threads going and it's time to show the proud workhorses of the local FDs around the country...

Re: Fire & Rescue Picture Thread
I love these trucks. Here in my town there is a conservation headquarters that holds auctions ever so often selling off these old trucks. It's been several years since they had one but at the time I didn't have the money to buy any of them.

Love this thread also! would love to have some of these vehicles after they are retired, low miles, well mantained, garaged. I took this picture in Connecticut when we were taking a emergency vehicle drivers instructors course a few years ago. Seems to fit into the theme of things !

I posted a brush fire rig thread in the 4wd message board last year or so for pictures of 4wd GM fire apparatus. I think all years are cool, but this is a 67-72 thread,so let's keep it that way, alright? I see some nice stuff so far. Some are ones I was planning on showing,so I'll try not to repeat! Some real nice once I never saw, too. I'll hold off on saving those to make sure I don't show'em again. Ding ding ding...wrrr WRRR WRRR!!! HONK HONK!!! |

These are cool. I am a Firefighter and we don't have anything as cool as these. Ours are too new to be that cool. Thank you for this post!!

Thanks for being a fireman. It's pretty cool, around here when many of the old FDs built new facilities they built lobbies with big windows to display vintage fire apparatus, much older than these trucks. The Mount Airy "Volunteers" have an old '39s truck that I can't recall is. The VFD owns a carnival grounds and the last night of the carnival is a parade through town they've had for years. It's just a small town and companies from all over, even neighboring states all turn out to show their pride and joys. I always thought it would be coo to have a show.
