1964-1966 center a/c vent
these things are very expensive and can be difficult to find in uncracked condition. so a friend of mine has been helping me make a new one. this new part is pretty amazing has the same flexibility as the original and you can boil it in water and does not even distort or warp it. i have the back pieces done also now working on the vent balls. this is the only pic so far but tell me what you think.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
Are you going to sell the parts individually or as a package only?
|
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
First I need to get a part that's ready to sell. Then I need to contribute to the forum so that I can sell them legally here. Bu if there is just one piece that somebody needs I don't think it'll be a problem just selling one piece.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
This is pretty sweet, mine's cracked. I have the balls and center vents, but would like to eventually replace that center piece.
AFAIK, the mid 60's pontiac vent balls will work but are slightly different appearing, but i don't think anyone has come up with the center diffuser vent yet or one that will work in its place. |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
first the part looks like a tan color.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...psa63c567e.jpg then i use this plastic primer. its almost white with just a touch of gray. note... i put the can of primer in the sun for a while so it does not fish eye. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps1051950c.jpg |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
then i use this paint . its a very close match to the original Fawn. note...if you want yours unpainted let me know.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
I think you would sell a ton of unpainted ones, since so many of us have changed interior colors. Do the parts in the back attach the same way (they part with like felt that screws in and pinches the balls and keeps them tight)?

the screws and clip might be a little different but thats all. |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
As long as it could be made to work with my existing parts, count me in! Minor differences don't matter :)

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
Any copyrights or trademark issues with the bowtie on it?

I kind of like having the corner broken off...adds some style and patina points.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
i hope it all works out and don't want to see any troubles either. there is a large demand for them and it'd be nice to fill some of the voids where parts can be purchase that aren't currently reproduced or available in original form.
looking forward to seeing these parts in trucks and hope it all works, you've done a great job on the prototype!! |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
now all you gotta do is make the rubber floor mats and we'll all be good
|
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
the vent balls take 5 weeks to get chromed but they look awesome. i installed the felt and the balls are very tight. i know that sounds funny LOL. now i need to make the center vent. im hoping to have a complete one done in a couple of months or less.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
That is looking nice!
I need one of the main plastic pieces to replace my cracked one |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
I see the used ones on eBay getting much cheaper now that these are going to be available
You should be able to wholesale these to lmc, classic parts, truck shop, etc. |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

|
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

|
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
im not sure yet on what to charge. after all is said and done i will have invested about $1062.00 to get to the first part complete. not to mention the countless hours of research and development...trial and error over the last 3 months.
|
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
very nice keep up the good work!!!
|
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
Those parts all look to be very very nice. Good job on taking the initiative to get these done and producing such nice pieces. Are these being made on a 3D printer?

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
okay I'm thinking if you want the entire assembly that will include the face plate the 2 vent ball mounts all 3 vents (chromed) the felt and the hardware $300
chromed vents will be $50 each. it costs a lot just to get them chromed. ball mounts $20 per set. face by itself $150 if you want the felt i just buy it from Brothers its $17.97 a set. i will buy it for complete sets only. let me know if that sounds reasonable. i think the first complete assembly will be ready in about 2 months. the face plate by itself could be ready next week as well as the ball mounts. the vents take 5 weeks to get back from the chromer and i have not started on the center vent yet. PM me if you want to place an order and or availability |
Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent
so the items are for sell right? ok what do you mean ball mounts, is that both for $20? is so i'll take a set!!!
