Track bar mounting locations

When did Chevy make the change from pumpkin mounted to axle mounted track bars? Or visa versa. The rear end of my 64 axle mounted track bar is shot. I have a donor truck (64?) with a pumpkin mount. I have the ability to remove and weld the axle mount. Is there any advantage to which mount is better.

The longer the bar the better. Especially on lowered trucks. My Porterbuilt bar is outside and to rear of stock driver side to the lower trailing arm mount. I had original mount on far passenger axle tube.

The '60-'62 and '63-'64 had the longer panhard bar with the mounting bracket welded to the passenger side axle tube. The '65-'72's had the boss with the stud on the center section of the differential.
