"Project 64"
5 Attachment(s)
Well guys you know I've been on the site for a little while now, and have got to know a lot of yall. I have been lazy and haven't done a build thread. So I guess I'm going to start one now.
I bought the truck back in 04 from a good friend of mine. He had it for a while, he bagged it, swaped the 283 to a 350/T350. Bagged the rear on trailing arms. Swaped the bench for buckets out of a burb. Well i guess it's time for pics. |

some more pics, I didn't do the notch, my buddy did when he owned the truck. It's some C channel that wasn't welded good at all. After I took the bed off I saw that the frame was stress cracked at the notch and was only held on but like a inch of metal per side.

Re: My 64 build.
I was wondering if you ever would start a build thread. ;) Nice to see it.

Well on to the back for some work. I decided to do a back half, I'm going to change it up a little from the way it sits now, but you get the idea. This is the way the truck has been sitting for a couple months now. It's at my dads shop in East Texas and I'm 4 hours away.
There is a lot that I dont have pics for and I wish that I did. The front of the frame was sandblasted and put in PD90 till I could do the back half of the truck. I haven't done any body work and I wont until I get the frame done how I want it and 4 linked in the back. I still need to run brake lines and mount my fuel cell. |
Re: My 64 build.
I know Alan I've just havne't got around to it. And that I haven't worked on the truck in months I didn't feel like posting since I wont be working on it much. I need to get the cab up here so I can start patching some of the metal.

Re: "Project 64"
I just want to let yall know this will be a real long build thread. I dont have really any money to work on it and it's at my dads shop.
|
Re: "Project 64"
I am getting some brackets cut out for my 4 link though. We have a CNC at work so I'm getting them done for free.
|
Re: "Project 64"
Free is just the right price. If I had a cnc machine here at work, I'd go crazy with it.
|
Re: "Project 64"
Well actully Joe your paying for my brackets. haha
|
Re: "Project 64"
Crossmember kit looks nice. I ordered the same kit plus the rear kit but it hasn't arrived yet.
Looking good! Keep us posted. |
Re: "Project 64"
You will really like the front kit, Which one did you get the 47 or 51? I wish I had the money for the rear kit but I just dont!
|
Re: "Project 64"
I got the 51. I didn't get the powdercoating though. I might call them tomorrow and see if it's too late to add it.
I will end up having to get different motor mounts made because of my 305 V6. |
Re: "Project 64"
How long ago did you order the kit, I took Jason over 2 months to do mine, but I told him not to rush since I was in Iraq. You should be able to have to get it done.
|
Re: "Project 64"
I cut out my first bracket on the CNC for my 4 link. I got a bunch more to do then I just got to get the rest of the stuff to do it. I'll put pics up later

Re: "Project 64"
Well I'm thinking of going to Wyotech for street rod and fab. Anyone have any insite on it?
|
Re: "Project 64"
Your build is starting out great. Looks like you blew your wod already. You better grow that money tree.
|
Re: "Project 64"
Yeah I blew my wod already to get this thing started. Hopefully I can get it linked and the frame done before the new year, Then I'll start on the body next year. Well that's if I dont go to Wyotech.
