oh :jdp: man i was checking this build daily for updates! glad it was good one! just subscribed to your channel. the burb is super nice very cool patina out side very nice redone interior on the inside! the rims tires... all of it you hit the nail on the head. are you going to get any hub caps for it??? maybe buy 68 1/2 on hub caps and cut the centers out of two, that have dented rusty messed up centers ,so its not a complete waste?

Picked up a very nice restored correct 7028213 on evilbay for the cost of what most are asking for unrestored carbs.

I'm looking and will keep you posted if I see any, just sent him a message if he has any more.
I'll send you the sellers name if you want to contact him, he has 100% positive feedback from hundreds of carbs.

Cool, yea let me know since I'd be interested in one for the burb and one for the 1970 PU.

Brake's almost complete, installed braided stainless front lines from Inline Tube but............ needed to do some machining to get the fittings to fit thru the frame with the clips on the back on both sides.
for now just need to bleed the bubbles out of the system.
New gas tank arrived and much needed for replacement of nasty original that leaked bad. Old gas would not burn so I drilled a hole in the corner of the tank to drain the nastys out. The two extra holes on the new tank that are used on 71/72 tanks vapor return I plugged with screwing a 1/4-20 x 1" bolts all the way in, 67-70 did not use them. Seat are going to SMS for new original seat cover templates for 67/68 burb's on Thursday.

Glad to see you are using what looks like the right fuel fill hose.

Though, that bolt with silicone jammed into the vent? C'mon...

After a bit of derailment from working on the burb, the 4" lift has finally been installed.
Stock leafs have 2, aftermarket have 6 up front. Rear lift was accomplished with a shackle flip from http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/. One of the rear leaf mounts had a good size crack in it, so killed two birds with one stone with the shackle flip. In the process I needed to machined some spacers to fit the new leafs to the front outter shackle bolt holes - http://youtu.be/U89oQhx2i3s- to install 69-72 4" lift front leaf springs since nobody really makes the correct ones for 67-68 4X4 trucks. Purchased a set of 5125 Bilstein shocks, Theeee BEST shocks I have ever had hands down. As well needed to install 4" drop drag link to correct for steering as well new U bolt kit from Rancho. Time to install 33's or 35's now..... the used 31's I picked up look like pizza cutters on there! =0/

I totally agree with you on your shock absorber choice!
I have those in my 1970 K10, and I highly recommend them as well.

Sweet!
The OE hooks are like the cherry on the cake for a 4x4.

Very nice! I almost went with those shocks, but they were out of stock when I was ready to order them. I love those drag links! It's getting harder to find those lately!

Re: Project "Daa BURB" - 1968 Chevy C10 4X4 Suburban

Nice work on the Suburban. I thought the correct mounting for the tow hooks was the open end of the hook faced backward.

We had a 1968 3/4 ton Suburban when I worked for the Forest Service and its hooks were mounted with the open end facing backward. I suspect the tow strap or chain will not slip off mounted the way the factory does it.

Was the Rockwell 221 married to the 3 speed trans or divorced?

Are you going to stick with the closed knuckle front axle and drum brakes or plan to upgrade later?

Keep up the great work, the truck looks terrific!

Justcuz,
Yes it was a rockwell 221 married to 3 speed.
Will be swapping out the closed knuckle for a pair of 78 axles I am rebuilding with 4.56 gears.
