Day 27 & 28:

Got the header coated and installed. Also all the suspension, steering and as sundry pieces & parts installed. Still waiting on the poly swaybar bushings, & fan shroud hardware. But I got to at least see it on the wheels tonight.

Pre & post header pics and quick shot sitting on the ground:

Nothing truly productive as I am still waiting on parts:

List of new or remanufactured parts;

Front strut cartridges, H&R springs, lower ball joints, center link & tie rod assemblies, idler arm bushings.

Reman’ed 4-piston calipers, s/s brake flex-lines, pads, shoes & hardware. Waiting on one more part and then a full fluid flush/bleed.

IE header and adapter to original exhaust, plugs, wires, cap, rotor & electronic ignition module, motor mounts, fluid change on motor, trans & diff.

Rodded out and pressure tested radiator, cap, a few new hoses, new shroud & fan etc.

New 175/70r13” on the ole 13x6” Enkei’s

New transmission mount

Steering wheel was hammered so that’s been replaced.

But the saga must continue once more parts arrive....

2002 update, I finally had a chance to get it running. I’ve replaced all the brakes, steering, suspension, cooling, tune up etc. It settled in pretty smoothly, once the oil got moving. And no smoking or exhaust leaks. I didn’t get to run it very long though between the fuel pump leak that showed up & still no radiator installed. But it’s a step forward.

No big update, but a few small parts finally showed up. The refurbished radiator, new fan & shroud, hoses and new fan belt are finally installed. The new fuel pump I received is wrong 🤦*♂️ But I sourced an original new one.

I’m still plugging along. Very frustrated with the USPS. Several of my parts seem to get close and then the next day they are a state away again. One 2-day priority package took 29 days to arrive. So aggravating. But I’m literally waiting on a fuel pump and I’m done with Succubus 1.1. Then I’ll decide my next plan...interior, paint & body or ???

I also scored a batch of the BBS 13x6” oe wheels. I’m going to have them refinished and use them most likely.

Cool looking and fun cars. Buddy from HS was stationed in Germany and fell in love with them. He took me for a ride and it was a fun little car!
Thanks for sharing!

Well, a quick update:

I finally got the rest of the parts for the radiator fan & shroud. I also got the new fuel pump and related parts installed. After I got these pieces installed, I realized very quickly that the current carburetor was an absolute piece of $h!t.

I ended up replacing the stock intake and garbage 2-barrel carburetor with a Cannon intake manifold and a Weber 32/36 carb. While waiting on the carb/intake, I also disassembled and rebuilt the alternator. After some tuning, valve adjustments (& cleaning & clear coating the valve cover) and a few other miscellaneous jobs... it runs like an absolute champ.

You've done a great job on this 2002! I'm certain you have more important things to focus on for it but a pair of the thinner/less prominent chrome bumpers from the earlier 2002 years would look nice.

Yeah Man! I hate the diving board stock collision bumpers! I have actually started on moving the stock bumpers in a few inches first to see how I feel about that before I go with the euro bumpers.

I did score an uncut original 1974 wiring harness, as the current harness is a Hodge podge of cuts, splices and as sundry butchery. So, when I decide to tackle the interior, I will do a rewire during that process too. :barf:

Great way to upgrade/eliminate the current harness as well as your piece of mind that the thing won't catch fire. I may have missed it but what are your plans for the interior?
