rebuilt carb, no squirt!
i tore apart my 4160 holley carb. changed the gaskets clean all the junk out and put it back together. my 72 c10 that would start until you pressed the gas and then shut off NOW starts only when i keep gas on it until it floods. there is no squirt from the nozzle into the throat. i checked the bowl and it has gas. and when i rebuilt carb i made sure needle and seat functioned. so whats up? any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
Sounds like you got the accell pump arm on wrong or the pump parts were not addressed/installed incorrectly.

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
oh i forgot to mention that. i replaced the acel pump diaphragm. is there a way to know if i have the arm wrong? it looks right. its under the throttle linkage... i think thats what its called. (screw with spring) also replaced the red seal under accel pump spring

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
what should i check when i pull it back apart?

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
There is a feed passage as well as a discharge passage. They both need to be clear. Also there is a check ball in one of those passages that can get stuck. Check the squirter and make sure its not clogged.

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
thank you for all the help. i took the front bowl off and turned it toward me to check the pump.... s[lash right in the face. that works. lol i blew compressed air through the metering block. no stop there. so im assuming there is a block in the main body. so my question is.... is that enough to getting the engine from running? i have to keep the gas pedal pressed to keep it running for the 30 seconds it does. if i let off the gas at all its dead as a door nail.

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
The accelerator pump has nothing to do with the idle circuit. You may have more issues.

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
Also check if the fuel is dumping out the overflow tube.
|
Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
nothing coming out of the overflow tubes and still nothing coming out of the squirt nozzle. i started looking into idle circuits more and i will try the secondary screw on the bottom of the carb as well.

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
I will update tomorrow. Is there anything else I should check?

Re: rebuilt carb, no squirt!
So I found a problem. The needle under the discharge nozzle was stuck. And changed the gasket between metering block and carb body. She runs better while pressing the gas but still dies if I let go of the gas pedal. Do you think it could be a vacuum leak?
